its weird thinking people that didnt play the game anymore but stuck in this forum, like why?

it's comfortable. it feels like you are still part of something and it makes you think the time you've invested learning and caring is not going to just become wasted knowledge

.... also some people just do not have much else going on in their lives that keeps them so they dillydally on here instead

IDK why anybody would use Discord given an alternative. (300+ new messages. The app gives up remembering after that point. Good luck finding the last one you read, or what's relevant.) How is the forum a less preferable option?

For what it's worth, you can just click the "X unread messages" thingy and it will jump to your last unread message.

I agree with you that a forum is preferable though. Discord serves its purpose for casual chatter, but I really prefer forums for more organized discussion.

what irk me .. if they engaging in discussion about the game they never play. they would be assuming things without trying it first hand and become a hater just based on their theory ..

I think in those cases it's more like the person is already set on the mindset that they will hate the update, so they naturally hate the update regardless of trying it or not, and if they try it and like it, they'll complain that the update does too little or whatever.

It just is what it is. I won't deny that Klei sometimes messes up with updates (Crystal Crested Buzzards on release state was an easy example), but some people just complain about anything and everything, so... Well, at this point playing or not playing, you won't be able to sway their opinion, so... Well, it is what it is.

Not really, no. None of the new updates seem interesting or fun.

Rift content is just a chore where you have to abuse game mechanics, like setting up 'tame brightshades' that prevent your farms from being infested. Stuff like boulders falling during earthquakes, brightshades or the destruction of Pearl's island just discourage me from building or even walking around the world cuz I'll load an area and a rift mechanic will destroy everything around it, leaving tons of debris.

Playing as overpowered characters that can completely steamroll through the early and mid game thanks to their skill tree perks also isn't very fun

Not really, its a shame how a game like core keeper with less years than DST feels more finished and polished right now. I stll remember how this game was before this rifts stuff, the game felt complete, with 2 final bosses with good loot, and sure the skill trees are funny and are in my opinion the only good thing that happen after the rifts but i prefered this game when it felt finished, right now every time i play DST i feel like im playing an early acces game, where things can change and i would need to start a new world with every new update, it feels really bad so im gonna wait till klei finish DST again and i hope this end is a real end to start playing this with joy one more time.

tadaaa a specific tools to filter what u searching for.

My experience with Discord search has been overwhelmingly negative. It's worse than Google has gotten to be.

Have a vague idea of what was said, but not the exact words used? You won't find it. (Sure hope nobody did a typo in a chat app.) There's no way to partially match a word using *.

For the forums you can at least use Bing, or whatever other search engine hasn't turned to crap yet.

You can create threads to organize discussions, but the app clearly wasn't designed around them.

just put in your own discord name

That gives me every single message I ever sent. Why would that help? Especially if I didn't respond to the discussion in question.

If you can remember who said it, that narrows down your results, but people tend to send a lot of messages. You're checking like 10 messages per search result page?

You have to realize that apps like Discord are meant for information that isn't permanent, and the entire thing is walled away from the eyes of the internet. It's a chat app for chatting. I don't mean to derail too much, but the app's certainly not getting better with time. Age verification photos were already breached a few months ago.

Not much, but that's because I'm not playing much at all in pc. I have become... a mobile gamer (sniff sniff), play Balatro on the bus. Hopefully that mobile version of DST will turn out very good

Excuse me. MOBILE VERSION OF DST?

Your several years late to the party on a Netflix partnership that fell through and did not get to see the light of Day.

However I do have some GOOD News to share with everyone who has Xbox Gamepass & An Iphone/Android phone, news that Honestly I am not even sure if KLEI Themselves are even aware of.

Don’t Starve is playable on Xbox Cloud Gaming, and yes you can play the game using your cellphones touch screen, but wait that’s not all, this is not a MOBILE App, this is the actual console game that you own on your Xbox, what this means my dear friends is that “Technically” you can stream Don’t Starve & it’s DLCs to your mobile devices and play via touch controls. For those keeping up, there’s a mobile app for Dont starve pocket edition & Shipwrecked pocket edition, there is currently no available mobile app for the Hamlet DLC.

This method however makes the Hamlet DLC playable on mobile, as well as allowing players to use Wigfrid & Webber in the Shipwrecked DLC (for some reason the mobile app does not have them)

Sadly DST is NOT currently supported with Xbox Cloud Gaming via Touch Controls, but if DS and ALL its DLCs already are…. It won’t be long.

I'm aware of the mobile versions of RoG and SW, that's how I found out about the game and fell in love with it. I must have more hours on mobile RoG alone than DST. But I was curious on what SapoLover said, an official mobile version of dst would just make it so much easier to get my whole friend group playing 😅

What would be a relevent update for you? because i personally love the "riftslop"

Finishing skill trees for the remaining cast members? Character updates, updates that are the most relevant because they impact every single player?

I still play. I've pretty much exclusively played on console over the years but my lastest playthrough is actually modded on pc.. for the 1st time in like 14k hours.

I don't exclusively play it but i still hop on for a playthrough like every other month to test new features or more randomly just to abuse game mechanics when i get a random Dst thought.

To anyway who's curious what mods. Its only 3 lol.

Island Adventures (4 shard world)

Boss HP Boost (3x)

Celestial Tools (This mod cool as hell.)

Why should anyone care if your using mods or for that matter, what mods your using?

I only own an Xbox so my experience with mods are limited to the likes of Ark, Skyrim, Fallout & of course Minecraft.

Minecraft being the major one, I own 38 add-ons (mods) for Minecraft.

Unfortunately for whatever reason the console version of DST does not support mods (Add-Ons)

Which sucks because the “Play as Critters” mod for DST sounds cool as all hell.

Until Klei allows DST to get mod support for Xbox, I’ll have to settle for the Morph into Mobs Add-Ons on Minecraft.

I still play and it's almost always vanilla. Generally I enjoy the game on occasion, there are other games that exist so I wouldn't get burnt out of this one.

I think the problem happens is burnouts with this game when updates came out every month of so.

I find skill tree updates boring. But the reason is that the characters don't interest me. For example, I have no interest in Webber's update because I don't like his (or Wurt's) gameplay style. Of the seven remaining characters, I only intend to follow the skill tree process for two.
