I still play DST and I love it, I don't find most of the updates mediocre. I was critical of hostile takeover 1 and 2 when on launch but have warmed up to it. Terramites are the only gripe I have (as well as maybe the notional fabricator design) and I'd like to see them changed. Honestly I even think From beyond has stronger updates than Return of them.

why tho? are they too boring? or the character u played already has one?

Yes, they are boring. They are just boosts or items that perform the same function as another item, but better...
And I don't like the fact that they are unlocked once and for all...
And that they all cannot be explored.

I play, for sure. I have long breaks from time to time however, but that's the game I always come back to, and I love it's still updated.

New story related content is always great, updated mechanics are interesting, new biomes too. I wonder how the story will end. Also waiting for skill trees. + Now I brought another friend into the game so I could say I enjoy playing.

I like this game, it was the first video game I got with my own money so it brings me this sort of feeling of comfort, it just happens I mostly play with friends and my friends don't like this game as much, I still progress in my solo world now and then.

whuh? but trees are so good for decoration plus logs which are like a huge part of the game

Logs ? Yeah, that's cool.

Decoration ? I really don't like any options for transplanting plants or anything similar... It takes away the uniqueness and importance of the biomes.

Therefore, I play with a mod that prevents you from planting cones.

The ending has to be bad... She has to be like this...
Although I think at the end of the Shadow, both the Moon and the Survivors will abruptly stop fighting, because the new year will come and they will eat and celebrate...
The most realistic ending...
The chance of ending the DS level is 0.001%

RIP.

I haven't really dabbled into DST modding myself, so I can't say for sure, but looking at comments on the mods, there are comments saying about how updates broke them, so it's possible that something that happened in one of the updates changed how things worked in the backend and now they don't work.

I wasn't sure though, since there are comments saying that the mod still works, or that it breaks only when touching a paddle, so like... Well, hard to be sure.

Good luck figuring it out! >.<

Not sure if it's changed - it's been a hot minute since i've fiddled with DST files.

If you've made the function (examples are in actions.lua - If i'm remembering correctly) - the item HAS to be equipped to actually execute that component.... although, again, take it with a pinch of salt since it's been years since I tinkered on anything. 90% certain we made an item with right-click use (was a weapon, but technically a utility item)

currently it can be equiped in the hand slot yes, as of now just works as normal weapon realy

In all honestly, I haven't played DST in a dog's age, I've been mainly playing Oldschool Runescape for the past couple years, the budding chef has become a defence pure in the world of gielinor.

I still grind the twitch drops in the small chance I return to DST, but currently I've just been interested in other things, and the whole post CC/FW content along with the planar mechanics just doesn't interest me in the slightest.

That being said, I still love glommer, and always will love glommer, even if I don't actively play DS/DST.

From reading this thread, I feel like I can give some insight about recent updates that people don't really seem to notice.

Making an animation for every single enemy in the game while it's electrocuted, testing it and making sure to also include a completely new asset/mechanic (electric fences) that works correctly is harder than it looks. This, combined with the care they took to make halloween and christmas as enjoyable as they could, while also having to figure out something cool with the chinese new year because of the backlash from the year of the dragon; It just means Klei still cares about their game more than people realize.

Adding a luck mechanic as subtle as they did to test the waters to see how the community would react is also a very smart move from them, because guess what, the community also loves the game, and that comes with some criticism sometimes. Put in the development of other games + the current on-going ARG and you have people working 24/7 on this game trying their best to make the game feel interesting after all these years.

It may feel like the game isn't progressing, or that nothing really changed, but in reality DST development is still on the same pace it was before, it's just that the perspective of these updates have changed. And it may feel like Klei took a turn in *how* they develop their game, but that's also not true, we still have the same concept of screwing the player while adding mystery it always have.

DST development and updates will always feel like home to me, even if people disagree with it, even if people change with time; Even if things might not look different, we still have them thinking constantly about their game. The lore is always updating with their short animations, and we can see they still work hard on those; From the comments we see people saying that Klei never dissapoints them in that scenario, and that is just too wholesome. Even if you don't play the game, you can still count on it.

I also took around 5 months of a break, but that's because of things related to real life, and everyone has their own life to deal with I'm sure. The good news is that a lot of people still have this game on their mind, even if they haven't played in years, even if they are too busy with life and couldn't catch a break or don't have friends to play with. At the end of the day, Klei is still Klei and DST is still DST, whether you agree with their innovations or not.

As of late? No.

Just got tired of playing by myself, and joining lobbies felt way too temporary to get with long-term

Yeah, that is the saddest thing for me. It's very common to see groups of friends that play other games, and when you tell them about dst, they don't show an ounce of interest in it, so we just put the game aside to play something else; I feel like this is the biggest reason why people don't play this game as often.

Playing solo for 10000+ days literally felt depressing for me. Maybe 5000 of those 10k days felt awesome, but other times it feels lonely.

What makes a community is the people, and what makes people connect is what they have in common. I really encourage people to be as nice as they can with each other, and to accept some conditions to play together you know. Like sacrificing having a mod because someone in your group doesn't like that mod, connection is more important than our decisions, and what could come out of relationships is always going to be way more worth it than whatever standards we force ourselfs to deal with.

And it's sad that the world currently is very selfish, everyone has their own place to be and their own world in their head. In a way that's great since we cannot be sure about other being nice, but we can for sure do our own best even if we don't get it back.

I went a little off-topic here and this is not really directed to the quotes, but it's just a random thing I wanted to say here 😄

You have to realize that apps like Discord are meant for information that isn't permanent, and the entire thing is walled away from the eyes of the internet. It's a chat app for chatting.

I remember that my first Discord account got deleted because of edgy friends I have who did violate the terms of service.  In those Discord servers that wrote slurs and stuff and the type of hate speech that you'd get banned for I did not contribute in any way or even read the flood of messages.  I was made to join because that's what my friend instructed me to do in a call in DM.  I was made to join to continue the call in a voice channel and mingle with my friend's friends.

My account and all messages I sent got erased because of an association that I had.  It was at that moment that I think Discord is good for it's infrastructure that distributes voice data and phone calls, but nothing else.  Certainly it is poor at handling any bulletins, articles, or messages that need context.  Discord has horrifyingly breached the scope that it had as a rival of Team Speak or Mumble.  We live in the age of the screenshot, because forums and message boards are too inconvenient.  A preservationist has cold sweats and a nightmare.

This is totally off-topic, but Bumber that resonated with a part of my soul that has been aching since drama is captured in Discord screenshots and my first account was banned on bogus grounds.  Discord ought to be transmission infrustructure and no library.  I hate what Discord has become.

That was totally, totally off-topic, so  I don't play DST since it strayed the path of Don't Starve.  I want more Don't Starve and new themes like Hamlet and Shipwrecked.  Gamers love exploration.  Don't Starve gamers loved the thrill of failing and learning.  The live service model does not suit Don't Starve, because the juicy tantalizing unknown like the Ruins when they were first added are just added too regularly and too insignificantly to invoke the satisfying learning element that Don't Starve has.  That's on top of the popular complaint about the combat focus.

I also really loved the Gorge.  Such a unique strategy game.  Gorge isn't DST or Don't Starve, but I would buy it standalone.

What is DST now think I?  It's like Terraria.  I don't like that game.
