Away Team is a new Oxygen Not Included adventure. Take control of a duplicant and harness a new world where every tile is simulated.

Mistakenly shipped off on a research rocket, you find yourself in a strange new world where you must take control of the simulation to survive and thrive.

The world reacts to your every action. Harness chemical reactions, fine-grained temperature simulation and convection, liquids that evaporate, and more.

You will need to design and construct solutions to process, refine and build your way out of this ordeal in order to survive and complete your mission imperatives.

Oh, and maybe a little oxygen is included.

Check it out on Steam and Wishlist now!

I can only hope you're not limiting yourselves to keeping this game on just the one platform...

Only here? For real? Again?

It's not even out yet. Maybe it'll get ported, I'm sure Klei at least considered it, and hasn't ruled it out

Looking forward to this!

But what happened to the art style? The thing with ONI is that it's very very pretty, as opposed to most other "big brain" games, where visuals are often an afterthought. Looking at the trailer it's plain downgrade.

Gas backgrund is too blurry in away team, natural surface is too... non-gradienty, artificial surfaces just feel wrong. Border lines look like what I normally get in MS Paint with pencil instrument. Also the duplicant face - for such big eyes it's too static and gives a feeling of creepy baby doll. Somehow it was not the case for ONI and Dont Starve faces.

Mate it's only the announcement trailer not even an early access. It's in a pre-alpha state and most likely will look very different by the time we get our hands on it. I do agree that there's many things that look sub-optimal from what we've seen, especially I think we lack the bold line weight variation that distinguishes all other klei games but as I said most likely things will change many times before release.

I kind of like the art style. It's ONI-like but not exactly ONI.

I'd rather know when we will get access to the game, and in what way.

Beta access? Early Access? - And when?

This is absolutely crack pot tin hat theory here but I'd go absolutely feral if any hint of this could be left as a viable Lore explanation.

it would be really funny if this was canonically what your dupes experience in oni (1). like how time is relative, and experience is as well, so of course ONI 1, (from the printing pod  pov) they'd focus on the base as a whole and focus on different things/ have different "events" it experiences. what we "see" is the printing pod translating from their experience, to show on our screen but it's not necessarily the level of security footage, ya know?

and then this experience, away team, we see instead how to dupes personally experienced early events. of course they'd notice different colors than printing pod! a dupe doesn't have "security memory of everywhere you've been", because the dupe depends on its memory, with what they see right now, and stitch and interpretation we see here. of course to a dupe digging blocks is more impactful, they're right there! not like printing pod, who experiences this with their eyes, millions of sensors, and all other eyes filling in the gaps.

ever have a boss forced to describe what you do, and they answer with weird random **** you barely did 2 months ago, once, and then never had to do again, and talking like that task is 99% of your job. a real "man my experience and your experience with the same events is SO different."

it's like that, but x10000 cuz the pod is literally a different, computerized AI.
