Do you think Don’t Starve Together would benefit from having even more characters added?

No, thanks. The game is already bloated with 18 characters. (+1 but who even plays Wonkey on a regular basis, amirite)

i think a few more wont hurt

I do hope someday towards the end of this big arc, we can unlock Wagstaff and Charlie as playable characters. If they keep going with this theme of Wagstaff V Charlie, then the end game could be Charlie winning and pulling Wagstaff in somehow, and siding with Wagstaff pulls Charlie from her power, which would result in them becoming survivors.

I don't think having more characters is a bad thing, as long as they all get equal attention in terms of content. You see other games with an absurd amount of characters, where a handful of them get skins/updates every month and others get nothing for 4+ years.

Klei is really good at this, as they prioritize having equal content and skins. It's not just Wendy, Wigfrid, Maxwell, and Webber getting everything

I don't think we should get more characters as it feels like the current rosters abilities are already beginning to blend together so whatever is added is just going to add to the pile of overlap rather than feel unique.

If they bring interesting concepts with unique gamellay like wanda why not? And the benefit would be that their design will be with skill trees on mind instead of the mess they are doing

Maybe once the existing characters are caught up on skill trees/skins, but right now more characters doesnt seem like it would be a great idea considering a majority of the cast is "incomplete" now that skill trees are rolling out

Personally I wouldn't mind honestly,  Maybe like 2 or 3 more

Maybe if they try adding other characters from singleplayer dlcs like Walani or Wilba just to give people characters we already know and exploring a modern take on them, since we kind of have enough Lore and Constant original characters, Warly was a pretty good refresh giving him a reason why he's in the Constant and why he wants to leave.

Klei seems to be focused on Giving each survivor, Unique ways to progress through the game and I kind of like it so far, One thing I didn't enjoy during the Refresh era was characters kind of losing some of their specific Downsides so people would automatically say "oh its just Wilson but (thing character does)" so as long as they can do stuff like Willow's spells/ Wormwoods Plant ally/armor and planting benefits, I'm down for it.

I still feel like there are still unique playstyles and Ideas that the game could benefit unique survivors for, we still haven't got our Ocean based Survivor that a lot of people wanted since return of them,

Heck, I'm even Writing a concept for a playable Wilton at the moment

even other stuff like an Actual Traditional Witch character with aoe buffs and debuffs. As long as their interesting and encourage people to interact with lesser used stuff and mechanics I'm all down for new survivors

I don't care what happens as long as this spot is filled and we get a neat 5x4 grid.Screenshot_2024-10-30-15-10-04-602_jp_ne_ibis_ibispaintx_app.png.fe5e1c504ea29a2747d4de6b45ec3091.png

I agree, pls klei the unfinished rectangle is killing me.

I would have said yes, because different characters means different play styles, but apparently skill trees do that now so why bother. Making a new character would require lore, and personality, and a story and new art, while making a skill tree is ten times easier and people love them (for a few months, until they suddenly become "bad" because another update came out).

On a more serious note, a new character would be nice to see, but maybe not right now. In a year or so maybe?

Wagstaff could be interesting but I think Wanda fills his niche too well for him to be worthwhile. I don’t think Charlie would be a good addition at all. I can’t imagine how she would be implemented and I feel like she just wouldn’t match the vibe of DST as a playable character

You'd say Wanda? I thought more Winona since she does electric machines instead of tiny gadgets.

Regardless I think Charlie could fit in the game as a playable character if they design her right. She could be another magic themed character with special interactions with the time of day. More powerful at night, or even more powerful based on the phase of the moon. Give her some kind of interaction with nightmare creatures, and add some notable downsides and she'd be fun.

I still stand by my idea of "legendary" skins for Maxwell and Winona that would make them Charlie (Maxwell) and Wagstaff (Winona), keeping their kit but changing their appearance, instrument, and examination quotes. That was met with the big  N O from the community, so eh, it is what it is.

At this point whatever... If we didn't get Skill sets, I would say sure 1 more wouldn't hurt but now that we have skill sets just throw more into the meat grinder, it doesn't matter anymore.

i'm kind of sick of character-related content updates... i'd like for our roster to be polished just for one more character at most maybe
but i feel like this roster's already pretty diverse

How about adding Wonkey there?

I feel like Maxwell's skill tree is likely going to fill out most of what Charlie would have been able to do and it'd probably require too much work to explain why she can use shadow powers without the codex umbra if she gets freed. If she became playable it'd probably be saved for don't starve 3 if there ever is one.

I would vote yes, especially if they make them in compliment to the world in some way. Looking at other characters is there really a significant lore reason behind them not being there? I don't think it should be priority right now but I still vote yes.

Wilbur is one of my favorite characters, so is wonkey! Embrace monke. Would 100% play more if it didn't cost me an inventory slot. Speed boost is nice and cave monkeys leaving me alone is nice to.

Sorry yes I meant Winona

I love the idea of legendary skins for Winona and Maxwell! I was thinking about how Charlie would just feel like a female Maxwell so the legendary skin feels perfect
