Great Worm digestion is awesome, let's expand on it!

The Great Worm has to be one of the coolest mobs (Bosses?) I've seen in a while now from a purely technical/code point of view. It's so cool, and it keeps up that awesome tradition of Depth Worms having super fun, almost slightly obscure detailed mechanic. I'm in love!

One of the main features is that the Worm stops to chew and eat anything it rolls over, from a simple chew and swallow for basic small items, to a very long, draw out chew, digestion, and finally pooping animation for swallowing larger mobs whole. That's bloody wild!

The more I look at it, the more I think it can be expanded upon. One of the first things I tried was seeing if heavy boulders can be eaten, and whilst they can be, it seems to be rather quick. I think allowing it to eat 'heavy' objects with an extended chew time would be very welcomed.

One top of this, I had the idea of also allowing it to share reactions with the Antlion for eating super hot/cold items, resulting in it being frozen or set on fire respectively. Items like super hot thermal stones, Wolfgangs Gem Bells, Lavae eggs, Ice Amulets, various temperature inducing items!
Heh, and maybe even sleep inducing foods and explosives, too.

As an artist, animator, and coder, I've too had my fair share of gawking at the freak of nature.

I feel like it'd be neat if once consuming things like certain mobs and cave-in boulders, the Great Worm had a chance to begin spewing the chewed bits at the player as lobbed projectiles (even though the thought of an incoming shower of Bunnymen meat projectiles sounds somewhat macabre to me, the word "macabre" describes this game well)

Whilst not quite the same, I did want to mention it does actually fully digest and eventually poop them out. I was super surprised to learn that if the tail is exposed, it will indeed actually shoot poop up into the air. Sorta like projectiles, but mostly just fun/flavor (or un-fun and flavorless? Ick.) and not as a projectile. I just wanted an excuse to mention it ahah.

Spitting out shards and bones and whatnot is absolutely food for thought too though!

Only as long as they're destroyed instantly upon being eaten.

YES, That might already work? Since that's how it works already i'm pretty sure, maybe this guy is just built different but I'd love to see this if it isn't the case already

Would be interesting if a special loot drop from the new worm boss is granted only if you beat it by quelling its hunger, rather than fighting it. Maybe there's a cue to know what it wants to eat and give it those foods by juking its attacks.  

Maybe the moggles let you inspect the worm to find out what it craves!

The gnaw hungers

I actually wish ALL big hostile animals (not just bosses) in Don't starve had a "vore" mechanic. (just for the 'realism'. I like to think of this world actually be inhabitant by monsters that will chase and EAT your companions and you) But then I don't want to take away the wormie's outstanding worm-mechanic of course so I rather have it being limited to the worm.

I'd love it if you could deal a lot of damage by having it eat explosive items. Killing it instantly would be too much but double, maybe triple damage from explosive items if it digests them.
