Be wary of potential threats from Sproutrock and Applied Silviculture

Recommended Posts

Cultivating Gemfruit is tough,  it takes a full 25 days to bear fruit, but Applied Silviculture changes all that.

Relying on Applied Silviculture, we are able to get a lot of gem fruits in a short period of time without having to wait for a long 25 days, a lot of gem fruits means a lot of green gems, you know what that means.

Wickerbottom was, is and will always be the most boring character in DST. My hopes about that character abiding by and adhering to the basic tenets of made Don't Starve Together fun to begin with have long been lost. Kudos to you for raising a concern at this point. This issue should be addressed, though the same thing can be said for most things related to the nonsensical power creep of this character.

It's too disproportionate for me to believe that it was Klei's intention to leave all this time for the other characters (25 x 8) versus a few seconds of reading time for Wickerbottom.

The ruins and Dragonfly lose importance because of Wickerbottom.

Ocean content viable??? We better nerf that crap asap.

I mean if the only way it's viable is locking it behind a specific character I think we have a bigger issue no?

I want full orchards of each fruit tree for thematic reasons. All the green gems in the world couldn't fill that void in my heart.

Anyway, I hope we get other fruit trees. I also hope berry bushes get the bush hat skin. I don't know why Keli has done this.

Also I want stone fruit bush skins as well.

These are all things people can pay for. This is cash money. Why Klei allergic to money?

I would love if there were other ways to increase the trees growth, with some adjustments to the yields. By the time a person reaches the 200 day mark for the 60 percent drop rate, how badly do you really need those gems? At this point, the trees themselves could stand to see some adjustments. (as for wickerbottom, I am not stepping on that land mine, I am so good my dude... Chaos and riots come that skill tree).

They will 100% exempt these plants from being grown with books. They already made mass food farming harder to do with the sivilculture/horticulture. Ain't no way they're gonna make gems farmable like this. (Nightvision is less of a concern.)

It is already useless without Wicker books though, it takes 2 or 3 years to grow because of the season requirement, you can clear the ruins and get more gems much faster.

it takes 12 days to grow if planted on the correct turf and in the correct season

So my world must have errors, as the game will be a year old and they are not grown into adulthood. Yes, they are on the correct floor.

It's 9 to 15 days for seeds to grow into sprouts, and 10 to 20 days for sprouts to grow into trees. So minimum of 19 days and maximum of 35 days.

It doesn't, what Reiko24 said is incorrect.

How about instead of jumping the gun and nerfing a character using their gimmick, we make it so Tree Jam can grow the ancient trees faster so its accessible by everyone.

It doesnt fix the balance concern.

What if:

1. The trees' growth time was lowered and each grew in two seasons instead of just one,

2. They had a limited number of harvests before either dying or entering some sort of dormant state.

The dormant state could last a set period, and/or could be ended with tree jam.

I doubt Klei's real goal is to take away the purpose of the ruins or Dragonfly. And Wickerbottom is doing just that.

It also takes away the purpose of sailing to look for more treasures, as it would only take a few trees at the base for Wickerbottom to do his witchcraft and multiply absurdly.

It would be interesting to use a purple gem on the portal to access Wickerbottom and then it gives you dozens of purple gems and other types of gems almost instantly.

Wickerbottom is doing just that with an ocean treasure thats incredibly rare in the first place, and ruins gems have less than a 5% chance to drop on the incredibly rare trees. So basically a character that has to go through a ton of hoops and set up is allowed to get rewarded for the set up.

Still she would get insane ammount of gems for free, once set up, without even needed to learn how to beat a bishop not talking about reseting the ruins

Maybe is rare but once you get it, it last forever

Don't pretend that sailing to collect the seeds means any day one wicker is rushing it asap without learning other facets of the game. Taking the time to set something like this up should be rewarded.

So we should bring Disease back, because replanting stonefruit and berry bushes and saplings and grass at the base last forever, and are free rewards that trivialize leaving the base to go survive.

Not counting the fact that the weird day limiter exists so you aren't even likely to get any gem tree's until day 200+. Everyone's acting like being able to do this is broken when by the time you would be able to do this, you probably have a massive base set up and aren't even struggling to do anything.

And it is rewarded. Infinity durability gem producer plants

Are you comparing getting basic resources and ingredients, with his own downsides and cost like grass needing fertilization, avocados having really fast spoiling time, etc with having access to gems, even green gems, for free? And you arent happy with that but you want to be able to spam wicker books, which now are free to use because they regenerate, to get insane ammounts?

Sure collecting some bottles is as hard as beating FW... sure

The 200 threshold makes no sense and, since this is a beta, we can expect it being changed aswell as the absurd interaction with wicker
