New crabking fight is harder?

In the new dev stream they showed the preview for the new crab king fight. (This is all work in progress)

After spawning him he breaks all sea stacks around.

There's a new creature that helps crabking by throwing rocks at you. It's a little crabby enemy!

These crablings will spawn very quickly, and their towers can be destroyed by ramming into it. I don't think it's worth killing or focusing since it deals very little damage to your boat.

Claws will now do a slash attack and won't hold/hurt your boat!

They take 4 hits to kill with a hambat, so probably 200 hp?

Red gems won't give him max hp now. Gems have different effects. Red gems will now alter the amount of crablings towers or damage (apparently).

After dealing 10% of his hp, crab king will first spawn waves to throw your boat away from him.

Then he'll create an ice platform, spawn crablings, protect himself with an ice barrier AND heal himself.

In my opinion, this fight is way more fun and engaging compared to what we have now. We also have apparently a new drop, a Boat Bumper that is pretty hard, and it protects 100% against bumping on land, and is repairable. What do you guys think?

The crablings and the towers apparently have more hp than the claws too.

If I could give suggestions to this fight, it would be to make the towers not ramable (destroyed by ramming into it). Having to kill them is literally not a thing if you just ram into it lol. The beta is in 3 weeks from today, so there's a bunch of things we can talk about it before release.

Also, the rocks from the towers (they are sorta like sea weed ranged attacks but slower) can damage the claws, which.. doesn't make much sense XD. Hope that's changed.

I also think that the healing phase will go on until his hp is lower than a threshold.

A small thing to note is that it seems to only take one hit to cancel crab king's healing compared to before where it would take 2 or mare based on the gems you give it. So now it is possible for a solo player to cancel the healing, once they break the ice shield and actually reach the boss.

I think that was already possible before. But to answear your question.. In the stream, Jason does 2 hits before each healing, which was already the minimum before. I think that's the case.

This was the second thought that struck me (the first being "the Cannon Crabs are adorable!!"). Hopefully the Telelocator Staff will ensure of it. :DD

I think I have mixed feelings about the changes and will probably be one of the first ones to make a really long post about it once the beta goes live. I don't want to make any big assumptions just yet, but for now I will just say the fight looks way too flashy for my tastes.

I hope it stays!! EVERYTHING in this fight has friendly fire: the claws can damage each other, the cannons can damage the claws, the claws can damage the crab guards, etc. It seems like it would add a very fun layer to this fight to be able to use all the Crab King's attacks against him, and it really makes him feel like a giant reckless beast who's had his mind fully corrupted by the moon.

Yeah yeah, I don't mind that too. It kinda looks cool to make him attack himself. But for gameplay purposes I was thought it looked weird. Still, if it stays like that, then it looks very interesting.

From what I understood, CrabKing no longer instantly destroys boats caught up in his water geysers, he no longer uses this attack at all, if that is the case, then I predict I’ll be able to place a bunch of boats around him in a circle and jump to whichever one suits my needs for the fight, without having him insta destroy all boats near him.

As far as Bee Mine strategy’s go I think they will probably still work (or at least I hope so since they ARENT an exploit and are in fact an actual in game weapon under the actual weapon crafting tab..) but I do think that the “swipe” animation on the Claws, as well as the fired crab canonballs can ensure that the player needs to bring a lot more bees…

And hey would you look at that? Wurt just got THROWN mosquito Bombs..

CK has always taken one hit to break the healing without orange gem upgrades. 3 or more is when it ups the amount of hits it takes to 2 (which, coincidentally, the pearl adds 3 of each effectively, which they did not use). It’s entirely possible they did change it so it only takes 1 hit regardless, of course.

this was already possible even with the pearl
