probably just some bug fix and small qol, consider their hands are full

IIRC other "skill tree" patches have included SOME regular content.

Considering the responses to the skill tree especially for Wortox/Wendy I'd hope they were working on other things. Although they'll have their hands full pleasing the crowd

FWIW my gut says there probably won't be anything else in the patch. I find it particularly odd there wasn't any kind of their usual announcements

They did not add the “content” parts of previous skill tree updates until like 1-2 weeks into the games skill tree beta, and even then some of that content was released in a beta state that had no real connection to content (the gem trees)

That it wasn’t until later that they made those trees available via loot pool drops of the ancient boats cargo or whatever..?

Idk, personally I think they may do an update to WintersFeast and that’s about it…

While saving all the cool announcements huge updates and such etc.. for the official 10 year anniversary of DST next year. *shrugs*

I think it’s important to make some clarifications here. We have been doing frequent and regular updates since Don’t Starve originally debuted on the Chrome web store in 2011. We believe the cadence of these updates has helped our games remain fresh and interesting but also helps us build strong community interest. We are pretty apprehensive about this change as we are concerned that the time between updates could slow the community down. So we will be watching closely and making adjustments as needed in the future.

Maybe you're talking about Don't Starve Together?
Because as far as possible, the gap between DS updates has already been 5 years.
Is there a new update in 2033?

Yes, but Klei is talking about regular updates. Is a 4-year update gap a "regular update"? (The 2020 updates are not even a QoL, it's a micro bug fix). And DS, in fact, had no content updates after Hamlet.

if you are the one who decides what counts then you will not be satisfied. personally i think changing how caves generate, adding a new crockpot food, partially recoding several mobs, changing how the worlds generate resources, fixing loads of bugs, adding save slots and changing the lootpool for one of the water-types is something i would call a post-hamlet content update

that all being said this isnt about the content of the update this is correcting your claim that it has been "5 years" when it has been about a year and a half

There aren't going to be any more DS updates. You have to accept it and let go.

Klei is working on DST from now on.

Yes.. but for how long?

they’re already labeling rift stuff as “End Game” so obviously they’re winding down and getting ready to move on.

If NewHome is what they move on to then I won’t stick around to find out how that turns out.

Больше не будет обновлений DS. Вам придётся смириться с этим и отпустить ситуацию.

С этого момента Клей работает над DST.

Well, we are waiting for the canonical standalone continuation of DS.

New Home is handled by a separate development team. Although surprisingly, she is more canonical about DS, because she does not forget the events and conditions from DS.

So the next thing Klei can do is DS 2. The second solo game in the Don't Srarve universe, and then DST 2

That is not what "Endgame" means. Endgame just means very late into the gameplay loop.

Klei is working on DST from now on.

They have been for about a decade.

IIRC, they got outside help for the last DS update, shipwrecked, and hamlet.

There isn't going to be a solo DS 2. They can't fund continued development without selling skins, and not enough people are willing to constantly spend money to keep a solo game going for another decade.

I'm sure you've been told this before, but pay someone to create a mod that does what you want, or learn to mod. If you can't do one of these, you've encountered the problem with continuing development.

i'd be very much surprised if klei today was still in the financial hole that they allegedly were almost a decade ago.

surely things have premusably gotten for the better since they aren't afraid to make new games now. I'm sure they could host a Forge today without worrying over their wallet.

Well, that's a real problem.
Creating mods requires a huge amount of time and there are not even adequate guides for this implementation. I've already lost a hundred hours with 0 results.
And pay? First of all, it costs a LOT of MONEY and show me a person who will seriously transfer content to DS?
At the moment, such good modders are working on UM and Shipwrecked and Hamlet dlc port.
Klei could add a skin system to the DS. Or release a separate game that combines single and multiplayer content from both games.
I understand that multiplayer in DST is the reason why the game is alive, but isn't Klei thinking about solo players?

In general, the lack of updates in DS and DLС is quite logical. Klei is working on other games so they don't have time to waste developing Don't Starve.

And yet you want Klei to do it, with no clear benefit over just continuing DST.

I'd suggest modding DST to be solo friendly rather than trying to fix DS.

И всё же вы хотите, чтобы Клей сделал это, не имея явных преимуществ перед продолжением DST.

Я бы предложил модифицировать DST, чтобы он был удобен для одиночной игры, а не пытаться исправить DS.

It's an interesting idea, but some things can't be done like in DS. Here's if I can have 5 shards (Shipwrecked, Caves, Ruins, Shipwrecked and Hamlet). No, I can't because the game doesn't have local worlds and it lags badly because of this.

The Don't Starve Alone mod should fix issues with shard performance. IDK if it works with the DLC mods.

Although the idea is really interesting. It's really much easier to transfer DS RoG generations and mechanics from DS instead of doing the opposite.
But so far the DS does not have the full Shipwrecked and Hamlet DS.
No offense to the Island Adventure developer, but the generation is too small and doesn't look like it was in DS.

But at the moment, there are almost no mods that transfer DS content the way it was in DS or don't work at all lol

If it were that simple, then I wouldn't be sitting here once again expressing my concern that one of his favorite games wasn't getting the updates it deserved.

Although it's probably the fault of the players who treat DS too aggressively lol, because they stupidly infuriate with their unfounded arguments and false information.

I see you're a modder. How many years have you been studying this and how did the studying begin?
And is it feasible for you, for example, to make 3 hard with classic DS ruins?

I'm A DST player that came over from DS. I've only played this game solo, what is the issue with playing DST as a solo player?

Enemies with 6x the health they would have solo, Bosses who in addition to having huge amounts of health, also have the ability to endlessly spawn minions. Players being swarmed & Stun-Locked to death, Bosses who’s attack animations (such as Twins of Terror Screen Swipes) would be split amongst a group of players only targeting ONE player for all attacks giving that player no time to go into lengthy animations of any sort (such as eating animations, or in some cases character ability use) Oh and speaking of Character ability use….

Some of those being WORTHLESS without having other players around.

That my friend in the shortest & most polite way I can say it, is what’s wrong with DST for Solo players. <3

Lol yes the grind for gear is real! I feel u on that for sure. Trail mix has a short animation (not sure if it's short enough for the twins) but I suggest splitting the twins up and getting as close to no hit as u can. Can't Maxwell trap them if u need help or was that nerfed? Cobblestone a big Arena helps too (also helps for shadow pieces as well)

I also bought a controller that has paddles, so I can quick switch between my weapon and cane. (since I know your on console too)

I’ll be honest, I think it really comes down to preference. I’ve really enjoyed DST solo and I personally liked most of the changes they’ve made, Even the health ones to some extent (seriously, going back to DS and killing clockworks in 5 dark sword hits feels very wrong).

I’ve been playing on a solo world since 2019, and apart from specifically multiplayer elements, I haven’t had much trouble with DST in a solo stance, especially since later on you can create setups to get through the large boss health pools considerably quicker.
