I'm surprised no one has made a thread or even comment the obvious thing today. Is DST community finally chilling?

This may or may not be a good thing..

When there were threads where people were excited and anticipating an update, it meant people were enjoying the game and excited about what they had to look forward to enjoying in said game.

But if people start to lose interest.. then said game could lose players, and that won’t be good for Klei.

I absolutely loved the 2022 release Gotham Knights, but critics & fans seemed to hate it so much, that the possibility of it getting any continued support through DLC is highly unlikely at this point.

But a game with a beautiful highly detailed open world, could have literally told ANY STORY it wanted to within that universe- Past, Present or Future.. yet due to it being deemed a Failure, the likelihood of such isn’t looking so good.

But when it comes to DST Of course it’s possible that people just aren’t too hyped about the “Year of” Mini events, and there will be more hype surrounding the actual meaty content updates and lore drops.

At least I’d hope so anyway… :(

TL:DR- a “chill” Community may or may not be a good thing.

Am kinda hype cause they usually leave small features in after the event is over like giblet, QoL etc.

Edit: huh

This was my biggest fear. Instead of enjoying the content and waiting till things where finished for constructive feedback. Ppl were in A huge fuss. We were able to consume content in smaller stages being able to provide focused feedback at each stage. Now I fear betas will be a considerable amount of time longer which means even longer periods of no content for console players. This makes me so sad, the only plus is that this hopefully takes the pressure off Klei cause this community put them thru a meat grinder last year. They gave us Free content and it was substantial content for years. I think they deserved more trust than they were given.

So what's the conclusion with this roadmap?

They literally say 4 major updates a year, then say there's the dragonfly update in February (which is a very minor seasonal event) and then mentions a "QoL + more" update the end of March.

QoL + more, doesn't sound how a dev would describe a major update. And then if it's not, it would be kind of weird for the first of 4 annual major updates to start in like May/June

Re read this post tonight to see if I can get a feel for the roadmap time-line and now I'm realizing that the original post might not even be consistent with the roadmap in the same post

t does not work. Parry seems to not activate any powers related to taking damage or being hit- I reported that in-game as a bug, but it might be intended. (Or at least warrants a change of wording in some powers)

Parry also breaks shield iirc, so maybe combos related to that can be achieved?

Speculations about next skill trees?

Decent bit away but...

Considering Willow and Winona, the two commonly considered "unfinished" characters got theirs in the last two updates, I suspect that Walter will get his next update.

I think we can Rule out Wortox/Wanda, as I don't think they'd do DLC characters back to back.

That leaves what? Wicker, WX, Wendy, Webber, Maxwell and Warly?

Of those, I suspect we might get Wicker and one other, with Wicker's being more akin to Wolfgang, having limited actual buffs.

Then the final one I'd say would probably be Wendy. The other's all received refreshes semi-recently, when iirc only Wolfgang has  had a late Refresh & Early Skill tree.

So yeah, Walter, Wendy, Wicker would be my guesses

The timing of the update might also impact who gets the next skill trees. Walter/Wendy would work well with a Hallowed Nights release time. Warly might be good for a Winter's Feast release.

He's probably talking about the Dont Starve singleplayer (RoG, shipwrecked, Hamlet) patch that released about an year ago :wilson_cry:

Yeah, what Brago said. The original Don't starve got a bit of QoL changes, bug fixes etc for RoG, Shiprecked and Hamlet. Console was going to get it when they could. :/

Is it really not out for xbox/playstation yet? I mean, it is out on switch, so I assumed it was all up to date now.

So how many more updates are left on the current roadmap one or two?

The roadmap says We would get 4 major updates, containing QoL, Content & Skill Trees.

But I’m not so sure we can actually count Year of the Dragonboat as being one of those “Major” updates.. it didn’t come with ANY skill trees did it?

So far We have had Scrappy Scavenger's + Wigfrid & Willow skill tree

Staying Afloat + Wurt & Winona Skill Tree

So that means somewhere between now and next years roadmap there still has to be two more content updates & skill trees right?

Or is my maths off??

Do we think there's going to be another major patch this year?

Seems like this coming patch is running a bit later than you'd expect for the road map

With the 4th and final patch presumably being more major (just seems like that's been the trend for the patches, with these small patches like this one, being stuffed between major patches) and the holiday season

I'd think it would be particularly hard to squeeze this out before the holidays

My gut says we won't see patch #4 until January

Update is aimed for December and confirmed to include skill trees, leaks point to Wanda as a possible skill tree obtainer for the Update. But god I hope not.. Wanda is absurdly busted as is, her skill trees just gonna make her even moreso.

The "leaks" were from a very old build of the game as directly stated by a dev. It shouldn't even be possible to see it.

Don't worry about them.

The only thing important to mention about Wanda is that Beefalo QoL, ocean travel QoL, upgrades to food/healing (including things like the polar bin), and planar damage have all chipped away at what Wanda brings to the table

She's still one of the better characters for sure

But she isn't bonkers busted anymore either

Surely the preview of the December update has to be this Thursday?

The following week is Thanksgiving, and then after that you're right in the thicke of the major holiday season

Isn't Klei in Canada? Canadian Thanksgiving is in October.

They are in Canada, but the US is the biggest market.

I'd imagine that a major US holiday would be in consideration for any live events intended to communicate with their consumer audience.

100% could be wrong, I just can't imagine them doing one of their events on Thanksgiving
