Correct me if I am wrong but what does the new taunt perk do for Bernie. Doesn't he already taunt and fight even neutral shadows on sight and every hostile enemy? He was in my game. Maybe we could swap that out for letting Bernie ignore neutral shadows with bone helm on.

Nikki Darks is also correct Bernie should be usable in lunacy so maybe that can be slotted in as well at full lunacy or 90 at the inverse to 30 sanity

i thought that was the moon perk for... klei literally gave him "gestally" look

i want to believe is incomplete

While it makes sense from her learning moon powers, It would be counterintuitive to have him out more on the lunar side when the shadow side makes him do more damage to lunar mobs. Also if one side get something i'd like the other to as well. IE the bone helm, which wouldnt make sense for the lunar side to have. Unless they swapped the damage modifiers between the perks as part of her having mastery over them.

p.s. if they were to make her able to pull out Bernie at high lunacy Willow could just have him out all the time with a celestial crown which would break even as an endgame item like bone helm

Doesn't lunacy only activated in a specific area? Like, even if you have max sanity it still won't count as lunacy unless you're on the moon/lunar grotto/moon storm etc? So she really can't just pull out Bernie if you're not in those areas.

It's much more accurate to regular Bernie than it was before and just looks better overall

I hope the add the new design to solo

It's a night and day difference! I love it.

We've been waiting for years for this redesign, the original artwork was meant to be placeholder as was told on the stream, but he never got finished art til now. Very happy to see it.

Hey if anyone at klei reads this please i beg of you, Can we get skinned versions of the lightning spear and commanders helm PLEASE. A winged lightning spear would be absolutely perfect for wigfrid, dont let these new crafts be exempt from the wigfrid craftables skins. Like the normal spear skins being turned into fire and ice staff skins, this just makes sense.

What downsides did Willow have?

Being wet and cold makes the character freeze and go insane fast enough to jeopardize the life of the character. Now there is yet another gimmicky pocket strat to negate this (not only will a handful of embers, which accumulate in your inventory during normal game play, be used to kill enemies but can also save you completely from freezing). It's another all-in-one wonder mechanic introduced by another rework / skill tree.

or you could just light a tree on fire

But those were added in DST and it used to be way worse. They introduced it as a counter for adding Bernie and in my opinion it wasn't needed. Bernie isn't that powerful where a downside was justified imo.

And I mean... Besides it being thematic... Was it really that impactful?

with other character i could agree but you are complaining than a fire related character that is weak to cold got a fire related perk....

Aside for the period where insanity would cause you to freeze - I don't think I've ever felt any downside from Willow was significant.  I have played her a lot being one of my main and favorite characters and have never died from being cold and wet unless it was a situation where I would have died with anyone.  She just lights something on fire, even if it is a few twigs from her inventory and is okay.

Either way - I don't think "character gets cold easily" is going to work in any way with these new perks.  Perhaps you should just suggest a new, different downside if you think she needs one.

The really old downside didn't work well, no. It was terrible mechanic and I was happy it got changed. Willow's current biggest downside is being susceptive to insanity in general which is amplified by cold temperature. It's one of those stacked odds things. It sounds small on paper but when multiple threats are impending it makes a difference and adds to the difficulty (something you have to manage or perish). The current downside still plays out alright, but the Fire Ball is an extremely lol concept. How long does it last? 8 minutes? And you basically always have it at hand? Would be more interesting if instead of the Fire Ball she could apply Charcoal on Straw Rolls to warm up more (together with warming up Thermal Stones) while sleeping, or some other long forgotten game mechanic.

Willow didn't get one fire related perk, she got 12 and the Fire Ball especially is extremely bland. Embers are a stackable multi-purpose item to make inventory management and other items more redundant. I do not like the uncreative versatility.

Why is Wigfrid the designated rider character now? It makes no sense. Her damage resistance and attack damage boost don't apply to Beefalo and she's already a very solid combat character without a Beefalo.

The riding thing is mostly flavor to fit her valkyrie theme. A noble warrior riding to battle on her trusty steed, that sort of thing.

IMO, the worst Willow skill is Bernie's Hotheaded skill. It makes it harder to ignore certain enemies, especially lunar-aligned mobs who often aren't aggressive. Like, we can no longer have Glommer out and about because she's Lunar-aligned and Hotheaded Bernie will merc her on sight.

Could I suggest a possible different skill? While using Bernie as an item, maybe hugging him could give Willow safety from most Shadow creatures and Gestalts? You could hug him continuously to create an aura that keeps the Shadow creatures and Gestalts at bay, but it drains Bernie's durability and you walk at a snail's pace while hugging him.
