  2. 2. since reworking crabby hermit quests or CK will take a lot of time, do you think adding a temporary, another, simpler way to get pearl or celestial tribute would be a good idea, so people can access CC without going through quests/CK while devs are working on a proper solution?

    • no, both are fine as they are and no change is required, no temporary solution and no proper solution

I find rushing Pearl's questline to be enjoyable. It doesn't actually take that long if you give yourself a shopping list of materials to gather for her before you go to her island, and I'm actually someone who likes fishing, so that's not a problem either.

I really don't like Crab King, though. He's just annoying and, as someone who plays Warly, I feel like it's absurd that he doesn't always count as wet? He's in the ocean. He should absolutely be wet. If he was wet, that'd make the morningstar and Warly's voltgoat jelly much better against him. I'd like to see a full rework of Crab King the way we got a full rework of AG, but regardless of what happens, the big crab boy that sits in the ocean and all of his claws that rise out of it need to count as being wet.

The Crabby Hermit's quests are an enjoyable set of side-objectives, I don't see much reason to change them, though I am kinda surprised growing an above average tree trunk by her island, particularly in that obvious gulf, doesn't count for anything, and it is a bit of a drag that we never learn to make those fissure plugs she's got on her island, or the drying rack or bee box variants.

Crab king is unreasonable to fight solo. You win by either preventing it from fighting (thus it's no longer a fight), or by using those it can't fight (rhymes with cheese), neither of which is fun or satisfying. A battle that can't be fought and won without exploiting loss of control mechanics is a battle that can't be enjoyed IMO.

In fact, last time I've tried this, the nut was considered trash while submerged into water near her island, but not yet grown into a tree.

I don't think I can answer either of these questions with a simple yes or no, both have their fun and both have their flaws.

The TLDR is that I enjoy both Crab King and the Hermit tasks, but if someone doesn't, that's also completely relatable since their current flaws might result in game ruining experiences. But I would oppose a complete rework to either of them instead of tweaks/small changes.

Crab King is a perfect idea with multiple small flaws which add up quite nastily, either turning him into a really challenging test on a player's mechanical skills or into the biggest cheese factory in the entire game.

That said, I personally think most people are being too harsh on the Crab King, he just needs some small tweaks on the numbers to become a reasonable boss to deal with (especially the numbers that affect claws and health regen). In his current state and if one chooses to do so, he isn't impossible to beat with an acceptable amount of preparation anyways, and even though I agree that the boss could be in a much better state, I would be really disappointed to see the whole fight get a complete rework.

On the other hand, Crabby Hermit tasks (considering the latest task addition and AI fixes) are in a decent place right now, I especially love having more than a single route to complete them, even when rushing. They have a noticable impact on my early game plans without making it tedious.

But then again, cookie cutter shells are still a requirement and that's the biggest, most problematic aspect of the whole Crabby Hermit questline (which I think is fair to say that they have the potential to ruin the whole experience). The player currently has no guaranteed way of finding cookie cutters, and if it takes too long to find them, the spoiled lightbulbs in the inventory demand an additional visit to the mainland, making the whole thing exponentially longer without bundling wraps.

Pearl is one of those things that seems tedious at the offset, but after a few times you know what to do so it usually is pretty easy to get through even if it takes a few days of prep.

Crab King just needs to be retuned so that he isn't as overbearing as he currently is.

Both are the worst content in the game.

I guess in terms of constructive criticism, crab king needs to be more boat friendly, and healing HP removed.

Pearl could be redeemed by increasing the variety of gifts and removing time locked and size requirements, and if she’s going to eat your food, have that count too.

Her exchange tab needs stuff I want, I’m flexible, but ocean fish isn’t it.

I just want more quest options. For example: I want to be able to choose not to clear the island around it, but to do other new quests

As for CK, a complete rework would be cool, but especially regarding his loot, as he is the boss with the worst loot in the entire game (for me).

I love that the quest gives you a reason to fish. I enjoy fishing but other food sources are just easier to obtain by comparison.

I like when quests give you a reason to do things in the game that sometimes go overlooked. Kind of like treasure hunting sort of gives you a reason to sail the ocean. I feel if the rewards were more unique though a lot more people would be inclined to do them. Maybe they could have them provide insight points in the future or something.

Makes me wonder if an experience system would work in this game. Such as getting experience points from quests to level up and earn insight points.
