It would be nice to have a way to permanently fertilise plants.

Well yes this is essentially what I am asking for. The only issue I forsee is it could make sprouting stonefruit less valuable, but they still let you create new stonefruit bushes so I think it is minor.

Assuming this will be a LATE LATE game addition, it shouldn't matter.

You have to collect all 5 infinity fertilizers

Soul fertilizer

Power fertilizer

Time fertilizer

Space fertilizer

And the Mind fertilizer

When combined, you can make one plant a wild plant. Then you have to search the cosmos for them again.

Actually, what would happen if you combined super growth formula, a compost wrap, tree jam, and glommer goop?

Edit: Add horticulture abridged cause why not.

I would be down for it, especially if it has the added benefit of brightshade immunity. It being locked to post-rift should be sufficient enough.

Funny you should mention that as this does sound like something you could make out of brightshade husks. Like you use 1 husk, 3 glimmer goop, and a Brilliance to get a poop bucket like think that has 10 charges to permanently sustain them and make them immune to brightshades, also being applicable to saplings.

sounds like a really great brightsmithy craft from spark arks

maybe usage costs 1 charged moonglass/5 crop

I did a thing for testing purposes months ago out of BS spite, so I don't think it's even a balanced or good method but here goes nothing maybe it's not as bad as I think :

bs_protected.gif.d11a727525e4f55cf1975cd1e18371ef.gif

Uprooting plants that can be affected by BS with the Brightshade Shoevel was giving them a shield which would turn them unstackable and prevent them from creating or joining transplanted plant herds so they would never attract them essentially while still being transplanted... I bit too straight to the point I consider but I really wanted to re-use plants for decoration which was the reason of that test, and this solution wouldn't deal with BS on crops which I'm totally fine with.

m_o_o_n_s_p_r_a_y.png.3ef2d259d3958498143ced5674b51ccd.pngAlternatively I recall @Notecja sketching (and maybe completing but I can't find it) a BS spray which would disaffect targettable plants it's used around. Supposed BS were scared of smelling the sweet smell of their own death body all around :o)

This would be a method that helps during growth of crops if desired so it had its advantage I think. But again I don't know how good it is to have situations where BS would practically never exist at all.

Maybe these protections concepts would need to wear off when the plant needs fertilizer or after a few pick-up, again I only complain about them speedrunning to any plant you place whatsoever their utility.

I mean I'm gonna be honest brightshade proofing wasn't really my concern I just hate having to do maintinence on all my plants when they're really just there to look nice + I want to lessen the incentive to try to leave resources where they are instead of transplanting them.

This is the sort of thing I was hoping for whenever I would bring up, prior to Wormwood's (or anyone else's for that matter) skill tree, that Wormwood should be able to propagate plants, that they would be starts that would grow into naturally occurring plants, not needing periodic fertilization. But yeah, compost wraps and/or some new late game craft undoing the damage of transplanting would also be a fine remedy. What we really need though is some way to avert brighshade infestation. Perhaps a new gardening structure: the Scareglow, maybe made from some dreadstone, dark tatters, and a Shadow Reaper, this would either destroy/absorb or repel any brighshade spawners that came within a wide radius of it, keeping nearby plants free of infestation.

Let this be the future "endgame" loot, maybe a magic turf ? That cannot be crafted ? We'll wait and see.

Or like that buff eagle who says "bro" , maybe an interaction with friendly fruit fly, that would be kinda cool. At least that insect could have more uses outside of farms.

How about the F3's fruit be a required material in making this miracle cure for transplanting? This would help give purpose for to killing the LotFF so often, rather than spawning it in an abandoned garden somewhere in the middle of nowhere to keep it from always bothering you.
