Would make sense the scaredy guy would rather avoid scary dark sword and opt for that he can find something in common with like blunt weapon. Let's start with in order to tune him down or not overtune him with extra attack his mighty damage is now 1.5x Spear now 34*2=68 | After 34 * 1.5 = 51 Dark sword now : 68*2=136 | After 68 * 1.5 = 102 Still 1-2 shots spiders To add ability for him to specialise in hammers he could get deal double damage bonus if using hammer weapons (with 1.5x it's 3x) That would result in damage: (you don't want to buff rock hammer damage for all characters unless you want to double moleworm health) Hammer 17*1.5*2=51 Add golden hammer to the game that would deal 27.2 damage like axe. 27,2*1.5*2 = 81,6 Still not as strong as dark sword and we've completed the golden tool set. Know how Woodie's riled up Lucy throw had ability to interrupt enemy's attack if timed well? It could be now hammer leap's feature too.. For unique team utility during fight or alternate way of dodging to maximise dps by reducing time spent walking thanks to timing the leap well. Hammer developer perk All magic hammers deal 34 damage: 34*1.5*2= 102 Just as dark sword Cool hammer: Slam attack freezes instantly (depends if cool down is introduced) Fire hammer: Using fire in this game is so bad that I don't know. Circle of fire after slam that hurts enemies but doesn't set them on fire while preventing them from entering/leaving? Faster slam but stationary in 60 degree angle in front of him? Purple gem hammer: Purple one makes me think of lightnings from telelocator staff so purple one is Wolfgang's Mjölnir. Slam range could deal electrical damage, be larger and have more "Oomph" sound with lightning visuals. Hammer would have different outcomes depending if in aiming mode you've pressed left or right click, the new attack is hammer throw that is faster and easier to interrupt attacks with just as with riled up Lucy. Now for character progression part Just as Wanda goes to ruins to get thulecite fragments to get more clocks as Wolfgang could do so as he does with gembell but coming back to ruins to craft stuff once it breaks is annoying especially if it's one of main parts of character like alarming clock so there are two ways to do this: Wanda style: Refuelable weapon Endgame content style: Crafting mighty crafting station kit that can be brought home and craft the hammers from there once they break. This solution will make all Wolfgangs on server benefit if just one was in ruins. I dont really think this needs to be tacked onto wolfgang though. I just want weapons in the main game that have cool secondary attacks that anyone can use. Mike23Ua Posted August 16, 2023 Share Posted August 16, 2023 The only thing I dislike about Wolfgang right now is that Klei actually took the time to code his Mighty Meter a different color when you Push your limits on the Might Gym, it goes from Green, to Purple, However… UNLIKE the Green Mightiness Meter which he unlocks different perks to use based on Mightiness level (lowered tool usage in puny form, Coaching Whistle & Running faster in Normal, Throwing Barbells and dealing 2x damage in Mighty.. etc, The over your limit newly colored Mightiness meter doesn’t do ANYTHING Special. And that sucks cause Klei portrays this guy as bench pressing fully grown trees with one arm pushing your limits should’ve let you do some new crazy stuff. Electric damage is just damage that changes depending on the wetness of a target, it isn't interesting and people complain about it a lot. I don't see how the way you continue being able to use your tools throughout the game is at all relevant to what I said. In fact, I don't see how literally anything you said is relevant to what I said. Which of these points do you think disproves you wanting to change the singletarget character to the third AoE damage character? They all lower his effectiveness against a single target, and some of them try to theoretically make him better against groups. As Egg said, all this does mechanically is make Wolfgang into a worse version of Wendy, who would have better AOE damage and single-target damage. But on top of that, this entire post is based on the notion that Wolfgang needs toned down, which just isn't true. Maybe in ye olden days when he was considered one of "the big three". But we live in a post-refresh world and are entering a new era of skill trees, and I'd comfortably argue that that Wolfgang is the one character that's largely avoided power creep. His power stayed generally the same after his second refresh, and even his skill tree is largely situational or otherwise inconsequential. He's still strong, but hardly special anymore. Mike23Ua Posted August 18, 2023 Share Posted August 18, 2023 My honest opinion is that big ideas like this should be saved for the inevitable DS 2.. at some point in time Klei will (hopefully) decide to make a new DS game, and when they do.. they need to make it feel new enough that it doesn’t just feel like it could’ve been an update to DST. Ive seen Klei draw Wolfgang doing some pretty crazy stuff, such as carrying boulders & Large food crops out in front of him in both arms (which would’ve translated in game to still being able to wear a backpack while carrying heavy stuff) They even show him in animated shorts lifting fully grown trees with one arm, So those are some things I’d like to see within actual gameplay when it comes to a DS 2, Huge changes that’ll make me want to buy the game are what I’m expecting. And while giving Wolfgang a huge hammer & a leaping smash sounds pretty cool, it only sounds cool in a NEW Game.. I’d prefer it if (outside of the skill trees) characters didn’t change too too much more before a new DS game. But that’s just my opinion, & many people likely won’t feel the same, I just want some things to be saved so I’ll be enticed to buy the inevitable sequel. Mysterious box Posted August 18, 2023 Share Posted August 18, 2023 I feel like Wolfgang's a victim of the game being mostly hyperfocused on combat and players being hyper focused on the early game and speed running.(not this isn't a jab at speed runners) Most of a character's value is determined by how strong they are or how op their ability is so despite how ridiculously powerful the cast has gotten 2x will always be something people like to point at. My theory is that the mighty+ state is for players who liked the old hunger-based mightiness more than the dumbbell-centered mightiness. With mightiness overcharge players can rely more on gyms and food and less on dumbbells. Back when all he was was a 90% damage bonus and 20% speed bonus in exchange for triple food he stood above only garbaj characters like Wiltlow. Even before a single character rework Wendy, Wickerbottom, Woodie, Maxwell, and Wigfrid (half the roster) were just as good if not better. Plus, back then you're either talking about DSA where the most durable enemy there can be taken out with one or two tickles of a feather, or early DST before difficult bosses were added. The ruins was the place where he mattered most, but you couldn't even reset them.
