If it's really gotten that bad then you can use something like Steam Depot Downloader to get a version before they fixed the Bee Queen ocean pathfinding or blorp manipulation or whatever and just exclusively play that instead. Seems like the only real true speedrunners in this community are a small amount of people who reject the usual leaderboards and don't like Klei patching exploits, so it shouldn't be hard to convince them all to do the same. I believe Super Mario Odyssey has a similar thing with people choosing to speedrun the non-patched version of the game.

when did I mention speedrunning

@sylvia wander o I’m not a speedrunner and I don’t like the new updates either. After Moon Quay, I dislike doing things in the ocean. Klei to me seems to now follow a Disney format of mass producing content without consideration of their audience anymore. I’m kind of new to the game and have watched it on YouTube when it was just beginning to be played. It changed for the worse, it isolates differences, and each update (I started after the Webber rework) makes the game less fun for me and my friends. It became less authentic to what me and my friends saw gameplay of in the past. Wow this is long sorry. But yes, I would like less updates and instead more quality ones.

Honest to god, the coding is there, the model is there everything is there.

I miss him every day, the best thing to come out of hamlet, and it's been years at this point.

How would that work?

Down in Alabama where I live we officially have a time of year known as Tornado Season. This specifically happens around fall/winter where the weather is flipping between hot and cold like that one Katy Perry song.

But in a game like DST I would like to see some new seasons added to the game- take for example Hamlet & Shipwrecked they each had their own unique weather and hazards and seasonal content.

I see no reason why the game should permanently be locked at only 4 seasons.. we could have 8 Four Brand New ones such as Tornado/Monsoon season.. and Reworking over the already existing ones summer needs some love with cool new contents.

it would be “cute” if a game called Dont starve where the name of the title implies every mob that exists within the game is attempting to live up to the title of the game (Aka not starving…) So we had an official “Hunting Season” Where mobs etc go out and actively seek food- be that from your garden crops, berry bushes or by doing what comes natural in Mother Nature- Asserting dominance in the food chain.

I just think it would be really cool to see things like Spiders become more aggressive when they’re starving.

Its really not my job to come up with exciting new seasons or reworks of the existing ones, but a great start would be looking at what they’ve already done between DS/SW/Ham.

I think that Wilson's rework should mark the end of monthy updates cycle. Instead the devs should work on something more fleshed out/finished/not bite-sized and release it every 3 months or so.

Also, I know that Klei will most likely go ahead and push the updates in the direction of the story that Maxwell's cinematic has started, but I believe they should make a bunch of unrelated updates first. Updates that, I wish, would make the game more immersive by reworking/expanding old mechanics/seasons, adding new sprites and animations, some challanges as well as the dark aesthetic. And conclude the Gateway arc by adding Mumsy and BIlly as NPCs

I think you are on to something. Beefalos eat grass and twigs, however I have never seen them seek for nor eat out of grass tufts or saplings. Penguins should split their herd, one of which protects eggs and the other half fishes the days.

Blind deer could munch on mushrooms and flowers, voltgoats cacti, merms reeds and seeds?

Hounds and tallbirds are fine, but they just kill stuff and leave items untouched.

Spiders, pigs, birds, bees and bearger are the only mobs in the game that eat? :D

hounds eat meat. They have bigger range to detect meat than to aggro mobs or players

if you count bees then i guess butterflies count too

moslins eat veggies and fruits (even from the old farms, dont know if they interact with the new ones, i hope so)

pengulls eat meat near their nest

mctusk child eat meat even if that meat is from their parent

tallbird child iirc eat seeds near the nest or near the player if you are rising them (i might be wrong, too many years passed since i tried)

ocean fish eat seeds, root or/and meat depending of the kind of fish. Narwhales, squids and sharks eat fish and sharks also eat meat iirc.

Sea striders hunt fish in their biome

worms eat glow berries, lichen and other plants like grass(dont know if they also eat meat).

Splumonkeys eat glow berries and bananas, maybe other kind of foods if dropped nearby

snurtles eat minerals

naked mole bats eat veggies and meat and also hunt for them

aaand fuelweaver eat body parts of death ancient citizens

Rockjaws often show up at salt stacks and kill cookie cutter fish or crab which ever thing they are

right, rockjaws are so agressive

forgot about the cookie cutter. They eat wood dropped in the water

Changes to the way interface and character abilities are handled.

I'm really glad Maxwell got an actual wheel to control his abilities I think wigfrid and Wendy could possibly benefit from that.

Same thing with how his spells work also they are just straight ported from forge for spell casting. Which I feel wicker could benefit somewhat from.

Don't know which is sadder, The fact that I was so unaware about all of these or the fact that I have played the game for years without noticing none of these. :'D

I made a huge thread dedicated specifically to what I want to see but personally I want to see Klei take a “deep dive” into how the game generates mobs, biomes and resources- I explained this in greater detail in my thread but here’s sort of a rough idea-

The game has all these new mobs, resources, turfs & biomes but they all feel “constrained” to a specific tiny area they can spawn within & want to see that changed- since all the Artwork and animations for all these things are literally already in the game- now I just want Klei to look at it all and ask themselves “now what could we do with these in World Gen?”

Example: instead of only having cookie cutters or water spiders show up in their specific constrained biome- you may see a stray spider just gliding along, or a RockJaw shark swimming around in circles around a tiny island with a Seaenemy, Shellbell, one singular Palmcone Tree, and a failed survivors skeleton on the island.

Its taking assets that are already in the game and adding new set pieces using only those already existing assets.

That would personally be my biggest wish.

Ever since Shipwrecked Volcano kind of let me down I've always wanted a ''ruins 2.0'' area. By that, I mean a sort of penultimate area of the game that has its own eco-system and a massive slew of ''high-tier'' variants of items.  The ruins had super-armor that was on par with the shadow armor with no downsides, the thulecite club was on par with a dark sword with no downsides, a special attack, and a passive speed boost etc.

I was hoping they would bring this back when Hamlets previews showed the player adventuring through ancient ruins, but just re-used old content and random trinkets and they were just a small collection of rooms.

The Lunar Biome is a pretty good contender, but in my opinion the quest to get the Celestial Champion up is hands down the absolute worst experience I've ever had with this game so far, and the lunar tools are severely lacking as it's only a sword and an axe.

I always saw the ruins as the ultimate test of knowledge back then(I know it's really not compared to all these raid bosses nowadays but bear with me).  You were forced to deal with shadow creatures regardless of your sanity, it was constant darkness, monkeys were constantly threatening you, spiders would immediately spawn the kind that can jump at you so they had to be taken more seriously.

They had a sort of coup-de-grace in the home-sea-home update for Singleplayer, but did pretty much nothing to the Volcano. That area had it's own ''creating world'' cinematic like the old ruins did and the idea of an entire area with all kinds of volcano-themed challenges sounded really cool. It even had the obsidian tools and a special workshop you had to go to for crafting them....but no it's just a resource dump with the best item in the game literally just thrown about everywhere.

Having some ''in the depths'' underwater abyss area, or somewhere that has content with a similar end-game to the ruins has been the main thing i have wanted for years.

Something that really changes for people like me (which are the majority) who have almost not seen any change through all the updates because the never played a world so long that they notice anything different.

Yes, I have noticed the character updates. But I have not even seen lunar island yet as I haven't been in a world for a third year.

Maxwell winter coat. Perfect example of how it should actually look in game exists in the workshop.

Im very dissapointed we got some poor blue wanna be imposter instead of that OG masterpiece
