What your wish for next year content?

Recommended Posts

It's almost the end of 2022, while this year was eventful, the updates were mostly rework, so since there is only one rework left, I hope 2023 will have more early game content like Nr and RoG, most of the new content have been mostly mid-late game stuff that have mostly added stuff to the ocean and the lunar isle, so for my wish for next year new biome on the mainland, more early game contents that are connected to mid or late game content, and more early game quest.

For next year I hope they add more content to the caves and the mainland. I really want new biomes and mobs or just stuff that gives the world of the constant a bit more life. I also want more early game content as well since its stayed relatively the same over the years.

Fleshing out the forest shard map (breaking it up into at least 3 separate and closely placed islands, so sailing around with one boat is easier), more ocean and caves content, performance improvements. (I'd also love a complete re-doing of how servers are handled so you don't need a nasa computer to host a server yourself for more people, definitely would make the game more accessible and also make a 3rd layer possible so ruins are consistent with singleplayer and dst (just without the ruins generating thrice in a world)

Massive update new world Gen settings, reworked mechanics that are incredibly outdated, Walani from solo DS, oh and brand new weather seasons in addition to the 4 we already have.

How would that work?

- new biomes for caves, continent and ocean

- new weathers and unique weather events for ocean. Moonstorm was very interesting

- filling moon crafting tab for example recipes that use moonstorm materials or gloomer materials (still no substitute for old bell after these many years)

- adding more content to moon storm (more mutated mobs)

- changes to bland biomes like the ones in the caves. Also i would love a rework to the mandrake forest so it looks like a real magical forest instead of being grass turf with mandrakes and some spider forest

- early game bosses like eye of terror and AG (i hava  fun to start a world and look after EoT), maybe added in caves to make them more interesting

- tweaks to wildfires so the player can notice fired outside of their vision

- new interesting character. Klei is learning to do great and fun characters, comparing DS characters with wicker, maxwell or wanda shows the improvement

- world progression other than more hounds and worms. Maybe weather events like blizzards like in uncompromising mod or more migratory mobs like how moose goose take some places to nest. Anything to make the game less static (ofc with settings for those who dont like long worlds)

- tweaks to walter, wigfrid, woodie and willow (just little ones) plus adding more recipes and spices to warly and more circuits to wx with the new materials that will come with future updates

- more structures for winona. 2 generators to feed a light in need of a buff and a cheese catapult dont make me want to play her

and some stuff that could be nice:

- pugalisk and iron hulk felt really fitting for a multiplayer fight if they had more hp plus their mechanics were unique so would be cool if they come to dst plus the living artifact would be welcome and have better uses in dst

- Terraria crossover anniversary celebration (basically add moaar), could be eater of worlds if we dont get pugslisk, beequeen reskin, brain of cthulhu or a cave area to fight golem

- hollow knight crossover, i didnt finished the game (controller broke) but seems like the have similitudes in lore and the aesthetic can fit the caves. Nosk imitating the player can be really creepy and cool and soul master fight and powers were cool and can fit the game lorewise with some changes. And there are many little enemies that wont feel weird in the caves

If they will do another crossover update with terraria I hope they add the puke and laser attack from the twins in terraria to the twins in DST.

Give incentive for Woodie to go to the Ruins/activate Moonstorms in a way that actually benefits his main gimmick. I love playing Woodie but feel like i'm missing out on half the game since it either has zero interaction with Wereforms or provides extremely minor benefits while also being a massive nuisance.

dont ruins have the wear goose and wear moose that really healp when clearing ruins and going to it

goose helps to find them but moose, even if i had a lot of fun cleaning the ruins as him, doesnt "really helps" cleaning them because is way more risky than wearing a log suit, atacking with a hambat and healing with blue mushrooms

What Arubaro said + all the items you get there can't be used alongside your forms, so you don't get any more benefit doing it than a Wilson would. Only two exceptions would be like, Lazy Forager and Star Caller for sanity.

woodie in general would benefit from some lategame capability as his uses slowly go away the more u progress

i will be happy with just some buffs in general so is a little stronger in early and not useless in late like increasing speed for goode (maybe at the cost of less max hp since is a fragile goose) and increased damage and hp (big moose, consistency, blabla) to moose so a hambat doesnt overshadows him

2 layer caves would create more lag. there was a reason why it was removed when transitioning to dst. there wouldn't be any reason to do so either like what the underground became deeper? i already don't want to go to cave because of all the nonsense in there i wouldn't want to even dare venture into a second layer. but more ocean content is always welcome and optimization

source? is for dst or the DS before the caves? because i think some concepts and abandoned items were found in files (the old ancient tab concepts)

I have no context, I was just looking in the DS forums and found it, so i posted here.

More console friendly support. Things like grid placement and general QoL things like the combined status mod does.

But in terms of actual "content" I want more sea content! Not things you just go to a handful of times. Maybe they could add a whole new world or content similar to how Solo don't starve had other maps in hamlet or how the old caves used to work. I still play shipwrecked all the time. That or more lunar stuff.

at this point I think I'd be happier if they stopped updating the game altogether

If it's really gotten that bad then you can use something like Steam Depot Downloader to get a version before they fixed the Bee Queen ocean pathfinding or blorp manipulation or whatever and just exclusively play that instead. Seems like the only real true speedrunners in this community are a small amount of people who reject the usual leaderboards and don't like Klei patching exploits, so it shouldn't be hard to convince them all to do the same. I believe Super Mario Odyssey has a similar thing with people choosing to speedrun the non-patched version of the game.
