What could a theoretical White/Iridescent Amulet do?

Recommended Posts

not very related to any of the current happenings in DST, but I've always been curious! after all, we have an amulet and stave for every single gem, but not iridescent? and there's other factors, too! how would it be obtained? would it have to be crafted after deconstructing the Moon Caller's Staff..? what would it do? the Moon Caller's Staff reflects the Sun Caller's Staff in ability, but I can't think of a relevant way to do the same in comparison to the Magiluminescence.

just curious, not much point to this topic. maybe it'll last awhile, maybe not, but I just want to hear what the forum thinks!

If we ignore the relation with the star caller staff, and focus more on the effect of the gems themselves, maybe it causes enlightenment? The same effect that tthe moon island and the lunar grotto has, but portable, since you are carrying a gem on your chest that is litterally infused with the power of the moon.

Not sure how practical it is though, considering you'd have to give up your chest slot for a virtually useless effect. :eagerness:

I saw a suggestion somewhere that it could be an amulet for Woody that "subdues" the moon and allows him to ignore full moons, like Wilba's silver amulet. But it will be a very specific purpose, useful only for one character. So maybe it can be a little side effect, and the main effect may be something else. Speaking of enlightenment, maybe it will make gestalts neutral regardless of sanity? And it will work even against the champion, simplifying the battle with him? Although you will have to sacrifice the armor slot for this, so I don't know.

isnt that useless, you can be at 0 sanity and dont have any negative effect

An idea a friend and I had was that when you equip it with less than max sanity it will quickly fill your sanity to full, from there it'll work as a sanity bank. Any actions that would normally take sanity would instead take durability from the amulet, with a total "durability" of about 500 sanity. We also suggested that maybe it could be recharged by placing it near a Mysterious Energy, but only before you build the Lunar Siphonator. If worn with the Enlightened Crown it could even buff the gestalt attacks, with the tradeoff being that you'll be left without armor since your head and body slots will be taken up.

Long ago I made a mod (that I now deleted cause I didn't feel like updating it for other characters and my motivation was frankly low at that time) that was giving each character an unique perk while they had the opal amulet equipped during full moon, each perk had different % consumption on the amulet so it was always reducing at a fair rate regardless of who, and the amulet was regaining uses while on the floor exposed to moon light, that was kinda fun.

From what I can remember :

  • Wilson had a insanely fast growing beard
  • Willow was immune to fire (yep, told you it was old) and regenerated health while inside
  • Wolfgang strength was capped at x2 (yep... again)
  • Abigail had x3 or 4 damages
  • WX-78 was spawning lightnings on them every 10-30 seconds, allowing a few days of overloads
  • Wickerbottom didn't consume uses on reading her books
  • Woodie transformed immediately upon equipping the amulet, even outside of the full moon
  • Wes balloons when spawned during the full moon did x10 damages
  • Maxwell's shadows summoned during the full moon had 75% armor and health regeneration, and now that I think of it this didn't really make sense since they are shadows and nothing to do with celestial magic...
  • Webber was auto befriending spiders passing around him up to a certain large max amount
  • Wigfrid looted more meat items on mobs killed during full moon
  • Winona had 25% reduction crafting cost
  • And the others did not exist yet, I think

Also that amulet blueprint had to be obtained from mining the petrified pigs and hounds, that was a relatively low chance but I like to do this event so it happened relatively fast for me in general.

Maybe just all of amulets effect at the same time?

Some speed, light, vacuum cleaner, regen of health, chilling or heating depending on environment temperature, constant sane/unenlightenment (smt like revert purple amulet), reduced craft cost. Also refuable by moongleams. Green amulets still cheaper in the caves, but this amulet can be used to cheap craft on the surface (let's -10% per craft and +7% each moongleam)

70% less move speed and damage given (very heavy), but emits light that reaches multiple screens away from the player. Refueled with lune tree blossoms or moon glass. Could be helpful for quickly deploying a light source large enough for your friends to fight groups of enemies during night, but you wouldn't have much combat capabilities with it so it's not too overpowered.

When damaged by a Hound, WerePig, werebeaver, and weremoose, they  petrified into a suspicious Moonrock, like what happens to them at the end of the fullmoon when you transform your staff.

Spoiler

And on all other creatures, so that the amulet was not useless and did not look like an ice amulet, a 25% weakness was imposed on everyone in a small radius for 30 seconds. Weakness because grogginess cannot be applied to mobs (and also because it is in Dont starve SW when mobs are poisoned, I think such a property would fit well into DST ^_^ ).
Speed: +10%.
Speed when attacked: +20%.
Refueling: Infused Moon Shard.

While having it equiped, make the wearer slower and absorb all light around it, thus making the player be in complete darknes while wearing it. (note, it does not remove  Charlies ability to attack the wearer while in darkness, such as when using the amulet.)

if we ignore that it gives all other gem effects on crab king  maybe something comes out

so far every single gem item has been somehow connected to another item with same gem

red: gives fire (still connected to giving life) and directly life

blue: just cold lol

purple: this one is weird staff has teleporting effects with lightnings and amulet resets your sanity and im having hard time making the connection also there is bat bat

green: building/constructing

yellow: power of the SUUUUUNNN

orange: gem for lazy ahh people / mostly uses teleportation

only 2 uses we have for iridescent gem is either powering (or enabling) archives and moon caller staff which is just ice staff on steroids

if it actually gives energy for archives then it is a stupidly strong gem because it never breaks and pretty much gives infinite energy to the archives as well as activating nightmares in the lunar grotto which wasnt even supposed to be there

i will go with massive boost on speed/damage/sanity/even more damage on nightmare creatures with the amulet as well as getting enlightenment when wearing it and seeing gestalts but not getting hit by them even with full sanity

staff is just moon caller anyways no need to think hard on that one

also i would like to mention that green staff which is described to be able to break gems cannot do anything to iridescent showing how powerful it actually is

might aswell make the amulet infinite use
