SecretPizzaMan
Water balloons. "But don't people praise it daily? Like I'm pretty sure there's a water balloon cult." Well people do praise it for it's emergency capabilities, but that's not the reason I think it's underappreciated. The reason I think it's underappreciated is because it's just so wonderful that when you obtain a mosquito sack you're able to fill it up with water and then throw it at a friend! A harmless little joke you can pull of on the fly and will be sure to bring a release of endorphins in you brain and your friend's brain! Isn't that special? Or maybe it's just nostalgia and there's truly nothing special about the water balloon. Just me making something out of nothing. Most of what I typed is probably insane, but I do think there's some special novelty to the water balloons that few other items could hope to replicate. Frosty_Mentos
Houndius shootius. In combination with some lureplants it can kill Fuelweaver on first year within a couple or so days without much effort. Just sit back, chill and watch. Next time you make another it'll be much faster. Also cheap defense against hounds, cannot burn, high HP and a lot of regen. Could be a good distraction against bosses if you want it to shoot clops while he summons. Generally good for killing strong and tanky creatures despite it cannot be moved. It's maybe less underappreciated but more underutilized? Not sure but I don't see them pop up often around the worlds. Houndius is the ol'reliable in many cases. One post said that many items that aren't much of use underperform and I agree. While some are just not necessary in my own perspective and the way I play the game other things are quite useless frankly. My idea being clothing items are kinds useless when I got star/moon callers and thermal. I would have said Pick/Axe when pre-rework of it and same for Thule club but they've got their good buffs and are slightly still underappreciated for how reliable both are as weapons damage wise and not. Even as Maxwell Pick/Axe feels usually useful for certain cases. In desperate times if don't have a good weapon then making Pick/Axe to clear ruins can be a good way to go if you got the mats and recipes. Glass cutters. Hate all you want but when you got abundance of wood and glass they are rather the cheaper source of damage that you can craft anywhere or bring and have tons of. Glass is so absurdly common after killing Celestial or before that there's no point in not crafting them. It's like Wigfrid helms kind of case, easy to export and to have. Telelocator focus. While playing solo and you don't got Wanda or don't play her, it's prolly the way to travel between two or more distant spots on the map. If Monkey island, Pearl and moon island are far apart you could practically make some sort of quick travels between. Costs purple gems that are really not a bother to have a ton of after regularly clearing ruins often, staves have plenty of charges and it's a good way to relocate certain mobs like bearger, Werepigs or hounds that are going to turn into moonrock ones if teleported off screen while doing moonstone event. Could technically teleport spider queens into certain locations where you want them to nest without the bother of fighting them. The uses are endless and sad that it doesn't work in caves. Gates in caves. If you set up a gate and a fence on a corner edges of the cave walls you can set up what is called Void Gates. Often people don't use it out of principle or just doesn't know about it but it really helps in traveling between far and distance cave locations and helps in finding Atrium. I often use them to travel to ruins or Atrium to do work and get back same way void travel. As of it still works I hope it works in the future still until it's fixed and if walls ever get implemented with wall mining or something. DarkPulse91
Strident Trident People see it as just a weapon, I see it as a tool. It is so helpful when sailing for everything, from bringing items closer to breaking a path in a cluster of sea stacks. And its fairly easy to make too if you are out sailing often, since you don't need to KILL the gnarwails to get the horns, you just need to hit them once and break the horn off. DVGMedia
I would like to say The standard grass trap is very under appreciated having at least one means you can almost take out a tier 3 nest. and a few for a frog rain helps alot. If you really don't have the resources to fight or goose to bait. And even the torch as a weapon. Most creatures have a good chance of being lit on fire when hit by the torch. Some even 100 percent. so you can use it for chip damage or use it as a way to stun an enemy for 10 seconds. (if they are an enemy that can panic while lit on fire.) Just run in there and mine a few times then run and kite, no weapons needed and minimal damage taken from the freaks of nature. EighteenXVIII
Luxury Fan for sure. All you need to do is set aside five down feathers, put on your eyebrella and summer becomes a breeze (no pun intended). As a Webber main: I feel like the Tent is kinda slept upon (no pun intended). Food is so abundant nowadays, but sanity restoration options are scarce. Granted, it's a huge difference having a Webber main on your server. But it's a very useful item in the ruins where you always need sanity and health. Leaving a bundle of food close to your strategically placed tents will be helpful (stone fruit or honey works well). Mushroom Planters: Admittedly, the living log cost is a pain. The other requirements aren't too bad. Feed some lightbulbs to a werepig, and let the rest turn to rot. I like to farm blue caps at my nearest sinkhole. They never spoil in the caves, so it's basically cheap emergency healing. One living log for 240 health. That's six pierogis without having to deal with gathering ingredients, cooking or bundles. Put differently, killing one treeguard amounts to 36 pierogis. If you want to top off your sanity, you can farm green caps as well. That's pretty much how mushrooms work in the caves, yes. On the surface they all spoil when winter comes, but in the caves for some reason this doesn't happen.
