Boat ownership/boat names

Its not a major feature or anything but I would really like to be able to name our boats. 

This could be done in a similar fashion to beefalos where maybe instead of a beefalo bell you get a boat charter that lets you enter a name for your boat. 

And if we wanna get really advanced maybe the boat charter has an ownership function similar to the beefalo bell where the owner can lock sails and anchors to prevent others from sailing off with your ship.

Like i said not anything major but ive wanted to name boats since Shipwrecked and with all the new boat customization seems like its the perfect time to implement.

How would boat names work? You can't really hover over a boat to inspect it and such like you can with a Beefalo.

In our server most people just adds signs, or mini signs, to identify their boats.

There could be a custom ui nameplate that appears above your equipment ui. 

Similar to what happens in Shipwrecked but instead of the boat meter we just get the nameplate

Do prompts like that ever appear in Together? You just walk at the boat to hop on.

Oh yeah, huh, the "hop on boat" is from Shipwrecked. 

I mean they could make boats inspectable, theoretically, unless it messes up something like boat leaks or something.

I just think itd be neat to name a boat, and i know you can place a sign but it doesnt give off the same vibe imo.

This is the ideal time to through in my idea for a mod that simply lets you name anything. Naming boats is fine, but I also want a pet boulder named Bob.

It could show next to the boat's health meter when first jumping on, vanishing a few seconds later.
Hover over health meter to display it as hover text.

Similarly, maybe using the Clean Sweep on the boat HP meter could be used to reskin boats.

Yea those could all work. 

I wonder if it would be too difficult to implement a sail that allows you to write on it and then the text appears in game. You could name it that way.

I would love to be able to name boats without a sign, because signs are truly annoying to put on a boat for multiple reasons...
one being the fact that signs need a LOT of space to be placed down, meaning its one of the first things you need to place and it usually is placed on the edge, which leads to issue, Two being the fact that signs are 'physical', which means you cant walk through it, meaning that you can legit hit the sign and fall into the water just because a player was careless and not looking where they were going.

so yeah, would love a different way to name boats
