Hornete Posted June 28, 2022 Share Posted June 28, 2022 Hello everyone, the new magnet improvements have been fantastic, so much so that I can use my 5 'car' boat train perfectly without worry. So now, I would like to go crazy, I want to eventually try and make a 100 'car' boat train, I am going to make the Infinity Train in don't starve. But of course, I will need a lot of ideas, so far I have the 'lead' boat(masts, wheel, anchor), a prototypers + fire pits boat, a kitchen boat with four crockpots and a bird cage, a storage boat with a bunch of chests, and a battle boat with four cannons. I would like your ideas for what themes and structures I should place on the new 'cars' that I will be creating for my train. If this dumb project actually works out in the end, I will be sure to come back to this thread to update you all. goblinball Posted June 29, 2022 Share Posted June 29, 2022 I can’t remember, can you put tents on a boat? If you can, then maybe a “nap time” bot, with tents and fur rolls would be nice. You could also have boats themed after all of the bosses, with their marble statue in the center of the boat and other items related to them around the boat. If you can put meat effigies on a boat, then a “revival” themed boat, with meat effigies, revival amulets, and maybe some hearts too could be nice. Could you put a dragonfruit on a boat, then use the lunar Halloween experiment to turn it into a saladmander on the boat? If so, then a boat filled with saladmanders could be fun. (You could also put a scaled furnace in the center, and they’ll all fight eachother over the furnace. I’m not sure if they’ll eventually kill eachother, though.) Lureplant boat is self explanatory. I know you mentioned a boat with crockpots, but maybe next to it could be a boat with bundle wraps containing a variety of foods/ingredients. Whats a boat train without customers to ride on the boats? Maybe some boats with a bunch of pig/merm/bunnymen houses could be fun to have. sudoku Posted June 29, 2022 Share Posted June 29, 2022 I thought of some more Science lab boat filled with mad science lab and other prototype structures, if you habe the creepy cauldron skin for the crocpot put that in the middle, leave some potions from the mad science lab lying around Can you make a maze with several boats using fences/anemonies? Sure! With the new magnet improvements, you kind of have to 'try' to get them smashing into each other and springing up leaks, it's super lenient now. Unless you're going a good speed and then suddenly anchor, you won't be getting leaks any longer, just releasing the sails and having it slowly stop will stop the entire thing. @sudoku @goblinball @ArubaroBeefalo Thank you for the great ideas. I had thought of doing boats with animals on them but unfortunately there's an issue where the collision of a boat will unload but the animals can still freely move and will go outside of the boats collision. I should really report this soon... I'd love to make a saladmander boat, a koalephant boat for manure, and an entire Noah's ark. A winter and summer boat A weather station with a rain meter and thermometer Moon tracker with Moondials A kitcoon boat with a nursery and toys Not sure if you can do a carnival tree and it's decorations or any of the small games and prize booth Bee box boat (not sure if you can construct on a boat tho) you'd have to put flowers along the Shore so the bees can gather from them while the boat is not being used and docked at land I had another idea that was pretty good but absolutely forgot and now it's going to drive me crazy! They'll disconnect when you can't see I haven't had any issues with this so far, though I do have an issue where the 'tail' will whip out when you steer the lead boat heavily. Had an issue where the tail of my train slapped into the edge of the world breaking one of the boats, haha. Not the main object for the single boat, but well, things go differently 'cause now I can drive several boat solo. Especially the ocean is more dangerous place to wander alone. Sounds for reliable for me than cannons which still requires manual control. Also big shame, I had forgotten you're unable to place Winter's Feast Table's on boats, which was seemingly Klei's bandaid fix for winter's feast tables linking mechanic not dynamically updating when they change position due to be moved on a boat.
