Can you explain your understanding of DST characters?

Recommended Posts

He is a man that wanted to become a great scientist but it was terrible at so, creating disasters when he tried to invent/discover something. Lead by temptation followed Mawell's instructions which trapped him in the Constant, and started a hatred for Maxwell for trapping him. In the Constant he tries to adapt to it and does it by some extent. Eventually he finds a way to beat Maxwell's game (Adventure Mode) and, despite his hatred for him, frees him from the Trone but gets trapped in it. Once they meet again, his first thought is to fight him on his own hands but seeing that they have higher chances to survive by working together than fighting they star doing so. They built the Jury-Rigged Portal, later turned into the Florid Postern which brings the rest of the survivors. Now Wilson knows that there's nothing that stop his search for an escape as he is no longer alone.

Amazing, but can we please explain the other character too, like Wurt what she about.

well, she's a young merm with high hopes for future of mermfolk.

She has the goal to return the mermkind to its past glory, and whether it had one or not, she provides merms of the constant with proper housing and establishes monarchy, so i'd say she succeeds.

she seems pretty open-minded(unless stuff's related to pigs that is) and inventive, using knowledge she got from survivors and her own swamp knowledge to reach her goal, but at the same time she's childish and silly.

basically, she's young, but talented merm who is gonna make mermfolk great again and make swamp a more habitable place.

Wurt is interesting because she inexplicably has an insane level of intelligence compared to the other merms, able to communicate and cooperate with outsiders. She (presumably) supplies and / or teaches the other merms how to make tools, establishes a monarchy, and is a "survivor" so she's targeted by Charlie.

Why is all of this? I don't think it's ever been explained. Perhaps the developers never thought of the implications and just wanted to make a merm character.

No characters are shown aging (except one who does it with magic) so I don't think we can say whether or not she'll become a normal merm.

Because all the other character are not constant born (Wormwood born from magic so he doesn't count).

From what I gather all merms have the same learning capacities it's just that they stick to themselves and avoid contact with other races (likely due to pigmen experiences) Wurt opens up to the survivors due to multiple things happening at once leading to her favoring them. That being said it's sort of shown in gameplay that other merms intentional or not are learning from Wurt when you consider the merm king learns the survivor language and while the other merms haven't been shown to have based on their fear dialogue with and without the king it's clear they're becoming more intelligent.
