If you'd like to try the Public Testing branch you can follow the instructions listed here.

Features

  • Spaced Out! Only
    • Added the Radiation Eater Duplicant trait.
    • Added Radbolt Sensor building.

Changes & Improvements

  • Added different hammer strike sounds for different door types.
  • Added hammer strike sounds for the Ribbon Reader & Writer.
  • Element Categories such as “Refined Metal” and “Filtration Medium” now have Database pages.
  • Spaced Out! Only
    • World traits are displayed when selecting an asteroid on the Starmap (new saves only).
    • World traits are now displayed in the clock tooltip (new saves only).
    • The cluster name is now displayed in the clock tooltip.
    • Traits for all worlds are now displayed on the cluster select screen.
    • Moved Radbolt Joint Plate to Radiation Refinement tech.

Fixes

  • Display world type in the clock tooltip instead of a random name. Saves created prior to the Breath of Fresh Air update will default to Terra.
  • Fixed dead codex hyperlinks for Duplicant skills.
  • Removed blank tooltips in the destination selection screen.
  • Nyctophobic duplicants are once again afraid of the dark.
  • Added missing status strings to the Refrigerator.
  • Spaced Out! Only

    • Worldgen: Fixed Volcanic Activity world trait not spawning many volcanoes in Spaced Out! Style clusters.
    • Worldgen: Improved Trapped Oil and Irregular Oil world trait rules.
    • Fixed issue where a rocket would sometimes incorrectly say it had enough fuel for a trip when it did not.
    • Fixed issue where a rocket would sometimes say it did not have enough fuel for a trip when it did.
    • The cluster select screen now displays world traits after the coordinate box.
    • The Materials Study Terminal hyperlink now links to the correct research page.

looks like they absorb up to 150/cycle.  I had one glowstick and a rad eater, the rad eater in ~75 rads was still losing calories but slowly.
Might be they don't need to eat if they have 150 rads?  someone will figure it out, but not me :)

Rad Eater seems to be absorbing/purging rads properly, but not converting them to kcal.

Started a map w/ a Rad Eater, a Glow Stick, and a control dupe. Forbade all food so they would all starve evenly.

At the end of three cycles in sandbox, after isolating the Rad Eater, Ellie, and blasting her with radioactive contaminants, hundreds of rads total, her kcals are less than the other two.

You started with a rad-eater who has a bottomless stomach :)

I don't think that "eating rad" means they will fill their stomach with it... Just that they will not get sick easily in high radiation environment

no they literally get calories from radiation.  the pictures above show it once you take into account the rad eater has a bottomless stomach.

It tells you this in game in the description.

Typo in the skill identifier change:
STRINGS.BUILDINGS.PREFABS.WARPCONDUITRECEIVER.EFFECT

Quote

It can be activated by a Duplicant with the <link="RRESEARCHING2">Field Research</link> skill.\n

the volcanic activity trait sometimes spawns volcanoes on the edge of the starting biome and there wont be any abyssalite, instead it'll be granite.  i do like having 2-4 volcanoes (mostly 2s) though and the granite stuff seems pretty rare.  it seems large glaciers close to an open volcano didn't have any separation aside from obsidian, but again maybe a fluke, only saw it once so far.  magma channels/frozen core + volcanic activity also seems to cause fewer volcanoes to spawn too but it makes sense in a way

rerolling a bunch in the asteroid select screen seems to show that the rusty oil asteroids doesn't get either oil trait, trapped/irregular, unlike the oily swamp for SO maps

adding that SWMP-C-985357495-0 had 0 volcanoes, it did get 3 hot obsidian spots against the edges of neutronium.  i'd like to request the magma biome be open to get some open volcanoes like rime did on the base game

New sensors are always cool and great, but if you guys want to improve radbolts automation, you should add logic port to the radbolt-accepting buildings to send signals when there is enough radbolts in the building. similar like reservoirs work

That trait sounded much cooler before you spoiled it :(

Ooops.... Sorry about that. I should probably see the dupe first before speaking...

Yes. They do eat rads... but it seems they .. don't metabolize them so well in calories as they do when you use food:rolleyes:

I am still confused, can they convert rads to calories or 'rad-eater' is just a fancy way of saying more radiation resistance?
