Is this happening to anyone else? - New worlds fail to start for no reason?

Recommended Posts

So ever since the Waterlogged update, sometimes when I make new worlds I just get "Dedicated Server Failed to Start" randomly, repeat attempts eventually result in a successful load, and it's only when making new worlds, it happens regardless of mods are enabled or not and has no obvious logs.

Is this occuring to anyone else or is it just me?

This used to happen to me a lot too. Long before waterlogged for me actually. When making new worlds I'd have to retry an arbitrary number of times (getting that Dedicated Failed to Start error) before successfully creating and opening the world. I have no clue why it happens. Now I don't think it's happened to me for quite a while, though.

If there's one thing I notice alot, it's the game suddenly freezing up briefly before it happens, but sometimes it rarely doesn't do that.

All I know is when it comes to mod work it throws me off sometimes, I expect error logs and get none.

I've always had this issue but I think I've been seeing it far more often since waterlogged came out, though I think it might have to do with the fact that I have over 1000 worlds since I'm too lazy to delete them lol

I'll try deleting some of the less used ones, though I only have about 25-30 worlds atm(most being test worlds)

Depends on the mods you're using my guy, if there's no mods and it's default settings there's a problem

Firstly I'm not "your guy", I'm not even a guy.

Secondly it has indeed occured with No Mods on Default Settings.

i say this to everyone -.-

EVEN THE GIRLS

So I really, don't care?
I like saying it, it's a habit of mine
Even if you're not "my guy" I'm still gonna say it
Check my signature.. it says my guy

While I understand the speech quirk, If someone shows they're not comfortable being called something then generally you should just... not call them that. Rather than make an excuse about it.

Are you using the 64 bit version of the game? I was having a similar problem but I tried switching to the 32 bit version and that seemed to fix it for me.

I think I am? There used to be a prompt when booting up the game but it doesn't do that for me anymore.

From what I recall on the beta branch caverns are having issues creating during worldgen, causing it to fail to start the caverns shard ultimately failing the bootup process.

Thanks for clarifying.

@Terra B Welch I face this issue all the time now since the Waterlogged update.

It doesn't seem to occur with dedicated servers oddly.

Maybe try getting a server/client log when it fails again and report it?

I've looked at the logs when this has happened before, I've not noticed anything blatantly obvious at least.

& sometimes people don't want to be called something you call everyone, so you apologize, move on, and don't call them that again
