Sugar Generator

Recommended Posts

My idea here (Since do how many people read the suggestions forum) is the sucrose generator. This strange generator has a low power output, but uses a little bit of fuel for quite a lot of power compared to other generators. The fact that so little sucrose is being burned means that any Co2 and Pwater generated is piped. Here's an interesting quirk about it: It consumes quite a bit of oxygen to slightly increase power output while significantly increasing Co2 and Pwater output. Water from sucrose? It'll work. Perhaps in polluted oxygen that works at a lesser (still more efficient than nothing) rate. This would give an alternative use to sucrose too.

After some more mid-draft research, turns out coal has roughly double the possible energy, and I kinda wanna see the balancing act that a device that burns sucrose for power with no external output apart from heat. I was expecting sucrose to contain alot more energy, though that was compared to an explosive. Perhaps it might take more sucrose in order to achieve the power I'm thinking of, but chances are the sucrose generator's main cavate is the sheer amount of excess polluted water and coal it generates.

Thats a great idea :p. Digging the sucrose for the sucrose power generator would be great with a bulldozer ...dupe operated, runs with Petroleum/Diesel/Sucrose and drives`n`digs through tiles on the big maps we would like to have back as an playable option dear Papa Klei Smurf.

I think we could easily get overboard with new generator types if each burnable resource gets one. We already have 4 (coal, lumber, natural gas and petrol/ethanol). I think we could repurpose the wood burner to a generic burner that takes everything (each material burning at a different rate so some are consumed slower) and produces the same amount of CO2 and power for everything.

This is a good solution. Add Sucrose as an alternative fuel to the Lumber Burner, one which generates more Heat but less CO2. Perhaps the Burner could also take Seeds to run at half power (+100W). I really don't like the idea of a totally generic Burner, but it would be nice to have a use for those resources that tend to pile up. Coal should require a dedicated machine.

Actually after a deep thought i think it would work best if each generator took fuel in a certain state. Coal generator for solids (coal, refined carbon, sucrose), petrol generator for liquids (petroleum, ethanol), nat gas generator for gasses (nat gas, maybe some future combustible gasses) and the wood burner for organic items (lumber, seeds, other dry organic stuff).

Now instead of making each generate different amounts of CO2, power or heat make them all generate the exact same, which would make the machines more predictable but what would vary would be how fast it`s used up. Like rfined carbon for example would be used up slower than regular coal so it might be benefitial to turn coal into carbon in the long run even if you lost 20% mass in the process. Similarly maybe we could feed the petrol gen with crude oil or naphta but it wouldn`t be worthwhile as it would burn more of it for the same power output.

Sugar rockets are actually a real thing. It's used in model rockets. But they only work because sugar burns somewhat violently

Nope, sugar by itself doesn't really burn that fast. You need to add saltpeter as an oxidizer to make a sugar rocket.

New meta: vaporize ethanol and feed into natgas gen for max efficiency
