So I'm on my 2nd run since the update, have activated the mysterious energy, and I just realized I haven't beaten scrappy werepig yet because I'm Wigfrid and trying to get restrained static asap. I beat him before the moonstorms in my first run so I had enough scrap. Now I only have 5 from looting the junkyard and am wondering if the piles respawn in a reasonable timespan, or at all, or should I go beat werepig to make him go upstairs to get the rest of the scrap? Though I think that takes time as well? I'm trying to avoid just looking up stuff on the wiki going forward so I don't know exactly how the junkyard works.

You can also hammer the Broken machinary in Moonquay island... but killing nightmare and scrap werepig is quicker than fiding Moonquay.

Have you tried hammering the junk fences around the junkyard? I did that before fighting the scrappy werepig and got around 20 scrap.

Yep that solved it, thanks. I had hammered a few and only got twigs so I figured they wouldn't yield any scrap.

So did anyone else know you can use the Elding Spears dash ability to avoid Darkness & chop down trees?

dash doesn't give I-frames and it can't hit structures with health

so no it can't chop down trees

Why are you saying it can’t when I’ve been able to do it at least 3 times now?

it’s not a consistent thing… it seems to be like Wolfgang and his chance to instantly mine stuff when mighty.

Im playing on Xbox by the way so I don’t know if this is a Bug in Wigfrids code on Xbox or what.. but I think it’s cool that she CAN do it..

I mean it’s a spear that summons Lightning dashes, so it makes sense.. but, it’s not something I would try to reliably use to chop trees down with either. Lol..

Your better off just charging Deerclops or Bearger through a forest if you want fast woods.

Im just thankful for the few times I’ve needed wood to build a campfire to cook meats or avoid darkness and the spear dash accidentally mines the wood for me.

I'm not able to replicate this on PC at least (example vid in spoiler), would be interested to hear if you're doing anything different besides being on Xbox.

Spoiler

I'm sure it does, I dodge the Nightmare Werepig's lunge by literally dashing through him as he pounces on me.

I'm 99% sure it does not (example vid in spoiler):

Daywalker's attacks are directional which is probably why you're avoiding damage by lunging through them. You can get a similar effect with Dragonfly but only if you dash far enough to be out of Dfly's reach:

Nightmare Werepig's attacks are directional cones, which were also applied to deerclops and bearger's swipe attacks

so dashing through them allows you to avoid the hit area

try doing the dash through moose goose or dfly attacks

I will check later to see how I was doing it I’ve got some work to do before I’m able to hop on Xbox so it’ll probably be a few hours from now.

It could be a certain “type” or “stage” of tree that the spear dash affects. It’s either trees or the stumps of an already chopped tree, all that I know is it was weirdly harvesting logs while I was trying to fight spiders, bees, frog rain, & Beefalo by exclusively using the dash against them.

(highly effective way to save weapon durability!)

I have been hugely unsuccessful in replicating this phenomenon but I swear to you the spear was somehow harvesting wood. I just haven’t figured out how.. I’ll keep trying, I wish I would’ve had enough sense to record it the first time it happened.

The spear dash pushes items away, perhaps you saw that while fighting and thought it had chopped a tree

Unless the wood could somehow hide unseen behind chopped tree stumps or other trees then I don’t think so, I just think it’s a rare bug that happens once every now & again. I’ll be sure to record it if it happens again though next time I’m playing! :)

do you think this skill would be too powerful if if I made it all hostile mobs rather than just high Health hostile mobs

now you can bury spider eggs in graves as a trap you lead hostile mobs into the area around the nest 6 care spiders will spawn(as a reference to unlocking Webber) depending on on your alinement you high health hostile mobs will be hit with a wave of lunar/shadow energy that will either make them groggy if you’re lunar aligned or Alert(shadow sneak basically) if your shadow aligned for 20 seconds, when they bring food back to the nest fusing the bone to the nest increasing it’s level(it have 3 levels marked by lightning or unnatural energy striking the grave(as a reference to unlocking Webber) 1.already described 2.you gain the ability to put 2 spiders of the same type into the nest to periodically multiply 3. the nest will occasionally produce spider eggs)there number those from the beard will aid those from the nest(more effective the more you have out)

It's not, @Juanasdf is correct. You're wrong but if you're able to prove you're correct (you can't) that'll be nice

You put a lot of thought into your posts about Webber - I've read your skill tree suggestions, I thought it was nice.

Thanks, what’s your thoughts on whether or not having the energy wave effect all the hostile mobs to enter the area

I'm doing a project for my megabase world. I want to pacify all the spiders in the maze using webber's decoration kit. Here are my questions:

  1. Can other characters decorate spider dens if they got the kit?
  2. Will the decorations break if a rock lands on a spider?
  3. How sturdy are the stone pillars exsactly? Should I just go for dreadstone ones to cover the whole maze, or will the rock ones hold on untill I die in real life?
  4. Will it actually work? Will the lil Anthony's not agro onto players if they step on the web/open a trap chest?

  1. No, the decorate option doesn't appear if you hover the kit over the den
  2. Yes, and it will also break if it lands on the den (though if it lands at a particular spot, it appears to slide off and not deal any damage)
  3. A stone pillar will break after 50 earthquakes. The first 10 do not remove any rocks from the pillar, but every quake after that removes 1 rock from the stack of 40 until it is depleted. Repairing the pillar back to full restores this 10-hit buffer.
  4. Sort of, but mostly no. If you pacify a spiderden on top of a dropper web, dangling depth dwellers will spawn immediately when a player walks over it as opposed to coming down slowly from the ceiling, and they will immediately attack that player. They will be smiling, indicating they are under the pacification effect, but still hostile (I assume this is a bug, frankly). If the player de-aggros the depth dweller and walks back up to it later while it's in range of the den, it will not be hostile.

Adding to what Arcwell said, I tried reloging and it seems that the webbing from pacified dens will take priority (needs further testing), and dwellers will not spawn

EDIT: After further testing, It seems that it won't work. I was trying it with hutch and godmode (reloging didn't help). I didn't notice depth dwellers don't activate with godmode on.

Also, the decoration kits have a max range (spiders who leave that range will not be pacified) but you could add walls near the pacified dens to keep them in the pacified area.

EDIT: Just in case, because I didn't see it mentioned on your comment: You can't decorate the dangler's dens, this is what I (and I guess Arcwell) did to "pacify" them

Spoiler

EDIT 2: It seems that pacified dens affect depth dwellers spawned from trapped chests too! But you'll have to place a pacified den near each chest in the labyrinth, since they change their traps with each ruins' reset

Any megabasers/long term world enjoyers? I need opinion on ruins clockworks. Do you:

  1. Push rooks out to allow yourself safe building, or keep them as free smashers?
  2. Push bishops out to not deal with range attacks, or keep them for purples?
  3. Push knights out just to not waste time on them, or keep them for gears hoarding?
  4. Bunnymen, merms, eye turrets or noone to dispatch clockworks without any input?
  5. If you have structures, do you ignore broken clockworks that can spawn rooks, or do you risk it?

I used to push them all away, but switched to anenemy farming all of them on my last world. Though farming bishops and pushing the rest would be good enough.

As for broken clockworks, I only destroy the ones that aren't near my repaired altar, and I haven't built much in there anyways, except for the maze that's lit up by astral detectors.

Okay we have had several years for Return of Them and other updates to sink in and I have several serious questions because they’re really starting to spark my curiosity..

Whats the point of the Ocean Content? It’s slow, it’s sluggish, and it’s painfully painfully boring… like I mean it severally lacks in content & resources to stay at sea with, you will rarely ever find grass, twigs, silk etc the stuff needed to build, repair and maintain your boats while out at sea- And this hurts the boating experience significantly Because in the Shipwrecked DLC you actually could find more items to stay afloat (pun fully intended..) while out at sea! It Drives me crazy how we did a complete 180 here.. masts need silk, where are silk? Spiders! Where are Spiders? On dry Land, Lunar or in the sparsely placed water logged biomes.

Why can’t we just find old ship wreckage or something with cloth for masts? SW did it… did NONE of the devs trying to put an ocean into DST just not help make SW??

Setting ocean content aside- What about the rest of the game??? Where is it all headed?

What is the “Point” of Planar Damage & Lunar & Shadow Affinity perks?

There are very very few mobs for Lunar & Shadow Rift content so I’m failing to understand the importance behind having entire skill trees & gear sets dedicated to them..

Then there’s the newer stuff like Wagstaff Electronical scraps and Funny Werepig boss..

Seriously how long is this going to drag out? How many years is it going to take until I finally see and understand Klei’s bigger picture?

Usually I’m a patient guy… but this is taking far too long! :(

Insight & Answers would be nice to have but since I don’t think I’m going to find any of that here..

I’ll just ask what is everyone’s expectations of the next content update?
