Trading with merm king

I think Wurt should be able to trade with the merm king using  trinkets (and maybe tentacle spots) for a small amount of gold ( half of what pig king gives).

Currently The merm king gives trinkets that are completly useless for Wurt (I think?) as she can not trade with pig king and not having  an easy source of infinite gold is a HUGE downside, This would give a use to the trinkets and give another thing Wurt can give to the team, a gold source you can place in your base.

For most people The merm king is a mid to late game item so no trading with pig king is still a good downside.

And most importantly it gives a reason to keep a Wurt around because without the perishable glasses that you cant stockpile before switching (unless you use bundling wraps that are OP anyways) you cant trade with the merm king or feed him.

Basically DST is multiplayer so the best tip is asking friend or any random about trade with Pig King. Or just switching character for doing deals, idol isnt so expensive to do.

New characters require synergy with others, making gamplay more cooperative. Everyone have own jobs but need anyone else to help to be really OP. And thats the point of DST - coop.

 

But if you are freelancer, you can always using game mechanic - changing characters but with friends is always funnier.

 

ALSO HELLO! She is merm! She hate pigs! And she should can trades with pig's king? Betrayal and Shame.

Merm king boots merms ant this is his main function and Wurt is a character highly dedicated to team.

I don't see the point in closing the door to pig king just to have the merm king being an identical, yet much harder to open door

That said, I wish seeds were removed from his table, birds already give more than can actually be used

Wurt + Wormwood.

Paint the entire ground in crops.

You can get four to six with Merm King.

But they also accept a wider range of gifts than merm king will, so whether Wormwood is hunting or resource gathering, he'll likely get a greater quantity of seeds with surplus materials than Wurt.

Wurt literally becomes surrounded by merms, and merms drop fish—guaranteed.

She's got a nigh infinite supply, and doesn't even have to work for it. A different merm can do the job for her.

Don't Bird cage already gives back regular seeds when you give it crops via Wormwood? 

It's also not like seeds themselves are to hard to come by without a bird cage either.

They're not but this does make farms not complete garbage if wurts around.One of the problems with farms is that you needed to set aside some of your harvest to turn into seeds for the next batch.

With wurt around, not only can you transform 1 fish into 1-4 (or 4-6? Need confirmation) Durian/Eggplants/Pumpkins/Garlic/Peppers/Onions, you also can keep the whole batch for pure food consumption/Warly spices without worrying about the need for seeds. Shame the seed variety is somewhat meh. 

Edit: yes I am aware you aren't guaranteed seeds for every trade but Wurts unique abilities allow her to easily amass fish and constantly output them if desired

Vast majority of seeds are normal seeds, particular seeds are a rare drop.

Ah rats. That really sucks. I really want to test the drop rates myself but I'm not exactly in a spot where I can spend money for her.  

I think the seeds are fine, its just another source of them, and its helpful if you set your farms in the caves like I did. A summer underground merm king keeps popping seeds and gets me covered all summer.

The only thing I'd change of merm king is that Wurt should be able to give him the halloween specific trinkets for candy, and the rook-bishop-knight figures for the respective sketches. For gold, its meant to be a problem for her (but its not that bad really, just send someone else, or if solo, switch characters briefly). 

It makes absolutely no sense that she is able to trade with Pig King given the war there is among the races and the mutual hatred.

Pig king does not seem to be a racist like his peasant counterparts, and I guess that is why he trades with Wortox and Webber anyway. But the thing between pigs and merms seems to be serious, and we had signs about this since DS times: The pig heads in a pike near marsh, and the merm heads in pikes near pig villages, and the setpieces that makes you randomly find a bunch of pigs battling Merms.

Should it ever happen, having a Wilba and Wurt on the same camp would be getting all the tickets for a disaster.

Can't wait for the hidden perk/con for both of them that causes PvP to be enabled for the two no matter what. /s

It would be fine by me if instead of trinkets the Merm King dropped a single gold nugget, with the same rarity he drops said trinkets.

Having the Merm King trade trinkets even for half the price the Pig King does would be a bit much, it's an interesting downside.

That would be a much better idea actually, not being able to get gold as easilly is a good downside and I think replacing the trinkets that are completly useless is the best option.
