thewreckedangle
now there are so many food options, i think it would be kinda cool if certain dupes were vegetarian and others were .. well the opposite. somekind of +morale/something for eating veggies and maybe get sick if they eat meat? and obviously the other way round for the carnivore. seems a shame to have so much food variation and very little incentive to continue making any particular type other than "whatever is highest kcal" or somesuch. Sasza22
As long as it`s not an exclusive diet but a morale effect i`m ok with that. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/109062-vegetariancarnivore/#findComment-1228505 Share on other sites
Ambaire
Sounds like yet another undesirable trait to be rolled away or rejected. Duplicants are hardly obligate carnivores, and in the asteroid world of oxygen not included, meat takes quite a while to get going. Negative traits are supposed to be undesirable, are they not? DarkMaster13
Assuming that they just take negative morale for eating the wrong stuff, these really wouldn't be as bad as something like flatulent which forces you to completely rework your base just to manage them. Nor is it as bad as something like anemic or mouth breather which makes the dupe far less effective as a worker in your base. I don't think they'd be never-pick level. metallichydra
the hard part is making negative traits, is to make it bad enough that it does have an impact (yokel, gastrophobia, squrmish and such do not have an impact) the other hard part is to not make it too bad (anemic, mouth breather) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/109062-vegetariancarnivore/#findComment-1228921 Share on other sites
camelot
I think having side effects for specific food would be better and easier to implement to solve "very little incentive to continue making any particular type other than whatever is highest kcal" problem Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/109062-vegetariancarnivore/#findComment-1228935 Share on other sites
Coolthulhu
I don't see carnivore working because all high morale meat foods include plants. It would need to be more like "meat addict" where the dupe gets whiny if they forced by starvation to eat food not containing meat. It would be really hard to start with it, though - you need about 70 cycles before you can set up sustainable meat farms. Vegetarian would be easier. Though I'd rather see it as a positive trait because it could be more interesting this way. Say, make the dupe a "green thumb" who applies fertilization bonus for longer at same cost, but won't touch critters or meat. At the moment no positive traits change playstyle.
