madcat1188
Hello. Just have these questions: 1. Does polluted water output from showers contain any germs? I tried to test this myself by creating a separate tank for shower water output, and found no germs after a few cycles, but now that I've routed the shower water output to a different tank that also includes output from a natural gas generator and carbon skimmer (which as far as I know shouldn't contain any germs), I am finding a small amount of food poisoning. Wondering if that is just a random fluke or if I didn't do my initial testing long enough. 2. If you filer polluted water with food poisoning through a sieve, does the food poisoning survive? Does it get killed off at all? 3. How much does it matter if there is food poisoning in the fresh water? As far as I know, duplicants aren't directly drinking it, so do they get sick? Thanks. Thanks. 1) I've had mixed results. I suspect that the output from the shower has germs if the dupe that took a shower had germs. But IDK for sure -- I usually bundle them in with my lavatories. 2) Yes, the clean water will have food poisoning. 3) Food poisoning in water will get your dupes sick if: You use the macrobe musher to make food such as mush bars. You have a water cooler in your break room. You have an espresso machine. On the other hand, if you send it to your electrolyzers, it generally isn't a problem. I've had some exceptions, such as the contaminated oxygen contaminating plants, which contaminated the food when it was harvested -- but I haven't tried reproducing this, so there COULD have been something else going on. Soulwind
Shower water does not contain fp germs unless the input water is already contaminated. Toilet water does. Sieved water is still contaminated. If your food is cooked, not from the musher, then the fp is destroyed. Dupes can be infected from water coolers and the espresso machine if the input water is contaminated. Neotuck
A problem that most players forget is the polluted dirt from the sieves also gets FP germs and can be more dangerous than the water. Dupes that handle the pdirt will get covered in germs and spread those germs to anything they touch including food. It's possible to manage this problem with some well placed sinks and/or ore scrubbers Personally I prefer to kill the germs in the PW before sieving it just to be safe. Since I’m drinking espresso right now, that’s very reassuring. Neotuck
I heard a rumor that the reason Starbucks is so successful is because they use cheap imported water from third world countries. This is obviously a joke, but I’m too out of touch to understand exactly who or what you’re mocking. Starbucks conspiracy theories maybe? Are those a thing? hacksaw12
@Neotuck I thought it was reasonably funny. Although I always thought the reason Starbucks was so successful was because they had somehow convinced people to pay for the most over-priced coffee in the world. Their prices aren’t out of line with coffee from a good coffee shop. No, the thing is that they’re charging 4 star prices for 2 star coffee. ... my apologies if that’s what you meant, and not that no one else charges Starbucks prices, which is how I read it. Yoma_Nosme
5 words. Venti Mango frappuccino coco latte...not a single word is coffee So the golden rule for coffee-shops. Don't go Anywhere you can order a beverage while having a stroke and no-one would notice... Venti Mango frappuccino coco latte...not a single word is coffee Not to defend Starbucks and its ridiculous names for cup sizes, but “latte” means coffee in coffee shops around the world, not just Starbucks. Coffee in general has its own language: espresso, cappuccino, flat white, Americano, macchiato, ristretto, and of course latte all mean cups of coffee prepared various ways. This argument is as spurious as saying “pour me a Guinness” says bad things about a bar because it doesn’t include the word “beer.” Now pouring various syrups into coffee... well. I don’t do it. The result isn’t really a coffee drinker’s cup, since you’re tasting the syrup and not the natural flavors of the coffee. Sneering at it, as tempting as it is, feels kind of snobbish. I just think you should be paying 7-11 prices for something that’s a slurpy variant. Oozinator
Long ladder paths are a pain now, when dupes cough, they drop. When they do it with slime / schedule / shift change, everything falls apart. Impossible to prevent with that " i drop whatever i have in my duplicants hands, when i go on the toilet" behavior. Dance of death is back (hunting for small O² pockets". For new players that must be a pain in the ass.. Yoma_Nosme
@Gus Smedstad semantics....latte means milk. Cafe latte, milkcoffee....I was aiming at coco latte as cocomilk but yeah, latte can (and it does) get used for coffee.
