Chlorine and CO2 vents are useless

Recommended Posts

I realize I'm probably beating a dead horse here. I brought a deodorizer just in case....

So I started a new colony and along the way found a CO2 and two separate Chlorine vents. And it dawned on me: These things are completely worthless.

There's no use for CO2 at all beyond feeding slicksters. My colony is a bit shy of 100 cycles so no need for that yet.

Chlorine is abundant enough in the wild and via bleach stone. There is nothing that uses chlorine at all in the game so it's useless to me. I don't see much of a point to using hand sanitizers over sinks.

I realize the devs have stated that they're not planning to add new items to QOL2, but is this something that they plan on addressing at some point? It kind of sucks having these useless vents just sit there. Especially when I'm still poking around in the dark looking for a water source.

There`s been some talk about it already. The CO2 vents are useless but not beacause you can`t use the CO2 but beacause it produces close to nothing. It`s not enough to feed a single tame slickster most of the time. If it did it would be a potential source of oil and petroleum granting extra resources.

As for chlorine. I can agree 2 vents are a bit overkill but they are far from useless. Farming squeaky pufts coverts chlorine to meat. Chlorine is also useful for disinfection especially when playing on higher difficulties. While keeping stuff in chlorine doesn`t use it up it`s good to have a source of it if some leaks out. Finally there`s a plant form space that needs liquid chlorine and a critter that eats it and produces nat gas. It`s a roundabout way to porduce power but it`s a cool thing to do lategame.

For me, 2 Chlorine vents on a map means "select another seed".
For me, the only use for chlorine is for the kitchen, to keep food stored "forever".

If the map has 1 Chlorine vent, i seal it and forget that it exists.

CO2 Geyser i ignore it. If it is a place i want to build the base, i just leave the geyser alone, venting CO2 into the base - it's harmless: CO2 goes to the bottom anyway, the bottom gas pumps will deal with it (i never use skimmers).

I like the chlorine vent. The bleach stone on the map is not enough to disinfect everything in the base when you bring them into the base past the cleaner.
The CO2 vent I haven't had much use for it but if you had a slickster farm. You couldn't produce enough CO2 to feed them all.
When you move to exosuits. The dupes don't produce CO2.

Your right about early game. They are useless however when you unlock the cleaner. Then you want bring all the supplies into your storage facility and cleaning fresh water. It's a must have.

I'd like some easier way of cleaning water than setting up a couple storage containers and labyrinth of pipes and automation.

CO2 vents are useful for free cooling using a carbon skimmer :)  Eg hot clean water in and 40C polluted water out.

except you only get like 15g of it per second...it took 10 second for 1 sue of skimmer and 15 second for 1 pump 500g of it....

1 clorine vent is a good thing, because bleach stone wont last forever.

and why would you need unlimited bleach stone?

It's only used for hand sanitizing stations

the only need for those are when dupes are handling raw slime spawned on the map (sinks and basins won't kill all germs)

There is enough bleach stone on a map to handle all slime on the same map

If Moos were easier to aquire and more effective, then mmmaybe Chlorine geysers would have some use, honestly, Moos should just be found on the starting planet because its usage and reward is so specific, by the time you have them, power is irrelevant.

Bleach stone turns into chlorine. Chlorine is used in the cleaners, cleaning water and gas.

Given the context of the topic, why would some one turn chlorine into bleach stone to.... turn it back into chlorine?

Also what is a cleaner?  are you referring to the ore scrubber? those don't disinfect water or gas

Sigh.
You don't turn it back into bleach stone. Who said to turn the chlorine into bleach stone.
Who said it's possible.

Use the chlorine to clean your gases and water.
Yes. The ore scrubber.

It doesn't run on bleach stone.

Look who I was quoting when you quoted me

And yes it is possible but pointless, which was my point

Also the topic was about chlorine vents being useless as there is no point for unlimited chlorine

That video doesn't prove you need an unlimited supply

You really need to understand context
