The Ancient Herald is really OP...

So, there were plenty of things I was prepared for with the Aporkalypse. What I wasn't prepared for was the Ancient Herald that relentlessly spawned multiple times, which gladly threw down meteors to destroy absolutely everything, and wouldn't stay dead.

At the very least, can't it just have higher health, cooldown on spawning, and a limit of one per world? This thing is nothing but a pest to discourage us from actually trying to get through the Aporkalypse. It doesn't even drop anything of interest! Hell, it seems like the kind of thing to drop something nightmarish. Bone Armor fragments, perhaps?

I'm curious as to what the developers thoughts for making the Aporkalypse was.

Currently it's just something you want to actively push back, and prevent from occurring.

There doesn't seem to be any benefit to going through it.

The Herald will probably drop something in a future update. Every boss in Don't Starve has something unique to it so far, so I don't think the Herald will be any different. They'll probably add some new features as well. The game is still in Early Access until April, after all.

Even then, you won't want to go through it.

Just let it trigger, kill the boss, and then use the clock to return the world to normal.

Like I said, there will probably be something to motivate us to survive a long time during the Aporkalypse in a future update. Maybe a whole new open world similar to the Caves in RoG that is only acessible during the Aporkalypse?

i mean, it IS an aporkalypse (which is 10 times worse than an apocalypse)

i know, its probably not what they intended with this event, they're probably gonna change something soon, so we want to play during aporkalypse

Really? Sounds to me something die hard hardcore players always wanted (given how they complain game is easy and not challenging enough)- well they got something close to dark souls and be my guess.

Although, I do hope they make it more approachable for average and new players, as you said, to have some sense of reward trying to survive through it, not just push it indefinitely as an optional game mode that is for "die die hard " people (who are so quiet, like not so long ago they were serenading about easy difficulty of the game ).

I think Klei has some time to experiment with it and they will implement something interesting for the aporkalypse like the 3 other herolds of the Aporkalypse or something... But now, it's an event that should be avoided at all cost. Whats' next Klei, the seven bowls?
