Hi,
what about add some "diseases":

  • when Dupe stay for longer time in enviroment with high concentration of chlorine -> Chemical burn
  • when Dupe stay for longer time in toxic enviroment (eg. polluted oxigen without other germs) -> Pneumonia

And connected things: Exosuit forge can produce chem-safe overal (like exosuit; but dont slow duplicant & without heat insulation)

I keep thinking chlorine should get more toxic eventually. There could be some kind of chemical poisoning disease when being in contact with multiple toxic components. CO2 is toxic as well but would make them sick at a much slower rate.

I`d also like more germ based diseases, like a germ spwaning from dead dupes or a germ that can spread to the mealwood (so you have a reason to pickle them).

I like the idea of adding more germs/diseases/health conditions to dupes.

If I may add another suggestion that fits quite well here imo...let dupes breath the gas that is around them (if they don't hold breath at this moment or if it isn't vacuum)

Add a oxygen bar that gets lower the less amount of oxygen they breath in. If it gets to zero the dupe gets incapacitated. 

If they breath in co2 over a longer time the oxy-bar gets lower and lower and they get a headache for example that makes them less effective at their work.

Breathing hydrogen or chlorine would cause a poisoning. Hot gas would cause a burn...and so on...

The idea is that you as a player would have to make sure that the areas where they do t wear suits are clean oxygen without to much of other other gases. 

Right now it doesn't matter as long as there's a little oxygen there to breath

Ebola ( Player has to fastly quarantine the infected )

Malaria ( Mosquito swarms coming to cave, Biome )

Lepra ( "It cost me an arm & a leg !" )

Atomic Radiation/Fallout

Drug Addiction ( Colorful mushrooms & Happy cookies )

Im fine if Klei implements it with Pink Rainbows & Unicorns, so that its not so harsh and looks cute.

Now that we can venture into space it's a good opportunity for Klei add a new, harsher disease to the game.  Every time you visited a planet, asteroid, or satellite could be a risk of contracting a disease.  In homage to Sci Fi illnesses, the symptoms, cause, and cure to this disease could all be randomly chosen from pools and we'd have to quarantine the host while we research the cure.

  • Pica - causes dupe to eat 100kg of algae per cycle or suffer a debuff to all stats. Gotten from eating mush bars. Healing can't be sped up, expect by placebo.
  • Photophilia - the dupe gets a "light" meter that works like oxygen meter, but requires light instead of oxygen. If unmet, the dupe gets large debuffs. Germs start on algae in chlorine biome, spread rapidly from infected dupes and survive in all gases, but light is deadly to them.
  • Hypochondria - the dupe will lie in bed until they get a medical checkup, which suppresses this for a cycle. They will not get up to work, only to eat/toilet/morale. Randomly affects highly stressed dupes and lowers their stress.
  • Hatchantrophy - gotten from randomly getting bitten by a hatch when handling it at low skill. The dupe can now only sleep by burrowing in soft natural tiles, has sound effects replaced by hatch noises, and will suffer a stress debuff if not groomed at the station.
  • Dust inhalation - "germ" that spreads from all dug hard tiles. Doesn't cause a disease, just lowers immunity.

Great ideas :) I was thinking why people get so engaged with this game, including me - It must be love and dedication.

My disease suggestions:

CoreThreaderitis - The dupe sits down and wildly hammers his hands around, it seems to be enthusiastic typing in some forum  or a hackaton competition.

HardwareFetish - The dupe starts collecting cpus and tries to fuse them together. The intention and cause is unknown.

Clueless - Deep depression about the goal of live. The dupe sprays graffitis with the number "42" on to the walls and steals all towels. Strange !

TinFoilism - The dupe feels tricked and betrayed and starts wearing a funny tinfoil hat. Why do I get all shoddy things ? Its all crap, its part of a bigger scheme. What is all this trickery about ? I want a refund of all this, Im just being used !

Oninonism - Chronic addiction of some kind, dupe walks around like sleepwalking and says repeatedly "WawaWah.Wah?"

I was thiniking about a parasite infection that would cause increased hunger and reduced athletics/strength/stamina but not cause the dupe to go to the med bed instantly. He could continute working unless ordered to heal. Nonlethal but needs someone to heal him to get rid of it. Would be infected by contacting certain critters.

How's about raw meat or food a critter has nibbled on?  With shove goods being able to pass through tiles, perhaps some form of vermin that can carry disease?  Eaten only by slicksters ofc.
