What am I missing about Power Stations?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I cannot for the life of me figure out why my power control stations never have chips, and my power generators never ask for chips. I've tried reading around but apparently it's so obvious everyone else just gets it without asking. I have every kind of refined metal, and engineers. What is it I'm missing? Save attached just in case it matters.

So, I gave the save file a try. The problem here was that you only had 1 Electrical Engineer. And he is also busy doing other stuff. Also your "Deliver" priority is not high, so first of all refined metal isn't being delivered to the power station. I increased Delivery priority and added more Electrical Engineers (next tier to general Engineers) and it works just fine. Only Electrical engineers can Tune Up generators.

He has a hydrogen generator working and a non-functioning nat-gas generator, each with their own Power Stations and a lot of hamster wheels.  I think that the engineer isn't looking at the numerous power stations because there's no need for a tune up.

In the cosmic update i had my engis tune up generators even if they were disabled by automation and there was no reason to do so. Seemed like the internal priority was really high on that. Back then the power station had it`s own priority and even when set on 3 they still did the tune up. Now it has no priority setting and they seem to ignore it if there`s anything else to do.

You can add automation to the tune-up station. - quite handy with fumaroles that have a long down time.
