So, I built this and am really happy with the performance so I figured I would share it and see what you guys think.  I did this in survival and the only thing I used sandbox mode for was weezeworts.   Tell me what you think!  And yes, I see the ladder piece I forgot that cost me another weezewort place.

Very bad.

What's the point? Cool two tanks to different temperatures?

1) Too complicate. A room with worts, a radiator with oil, and a shutoff stopping the circulation upon reaching the temperature. And it's all.

2) It is too resource-intensive. Too many worts, too many unnecessary Mesh Tiles. Too many radiators, too many logic.

And why is this all? To save 1200 watts on aquatuner? It's sad.

You have a 120W filter on the left? After all those shutoffs and all that logic? Seriously?

BTW Now I"m looking at your normal 120W filter. You connected the input to the middle port with a normal pipe? That's not how you use that filter. You need an air pump that sends gas to the filter's white input port. Then the filter separates a chosen gas, sending it into the orange pipe, and everything else goes in the green output pipe. I'm gonna stop looking at this now, makes my eyes bleed.

I'm sure it works well to cool water so congratulations on completing a big project for your colony! But...

The value in claiming you built something in survival is to show that you achieved something with only your dupes and game mechanics. While it is conceivable that you could find that many wheezeworts on an entire map, using sandbox mode to spawn them in for your build lessens or even invalidates that claim, since you didn't actually go to the effort of exploring the entire map, uprooting the wheezeworts and possibly messing up some ice biomes in the process to make this.

And if you did gather them in survival, when you use all of these wheezeworts on this big water cooler, you can't use them to cool other parts of your base, so you'd likely impress people more by using the minimum number of wheezeworts required.

It's good that you are happy with it and don't sad if people don't like it because this build will take many cycles to finish and performance might not be good as you think it should be.

I'm talking about ratio with that space, material and that wheezeworts.

There's a lot of room to improve.

Make it tiny, less or no downside but still powerful.

Nice monstrocity ;)

If there is 56 wheezworts then it should be able to cool almost 8kg of water per second.

I created much simpler build based on 7 wheeworts:

Spoiler

5DB2EB9354E7E3C2645CD9674F92BF5FCD1DDDFB

It runs 500g/s packets at 64C and cools it down to 21C.

So if there is 8 times more wheezworts (56) I could be pumping 4kg/s of water to have same cooling efect or it doesn't scale in so simple way?

The second tank feeds my base and is my HVAC for temp creep.  The second temp is for sleet wheat and I also feed my bristles with it.  How do you only have one temp for your base?   Do you not grow sleet wheet?

I'm not even sure what to say to this.  That filter filled the chamber with hydrogen.  Do you seriously think I didn't know how a filter works?  LOL  And since it was temporary just to fill the chamber, it would be way more of a pain to build the logic based filter.  You would only want to take the time to build a logic filter on something that you wanted to keep.  2 cycles of use and your done, I'll take a standard filter.

So many wheezies ^^
When you are able to build such a big system, you could build a better one with thermo regulators/aquatuners.
Wheezies cost no energy but you have a lot of them and i don't uproot most of them, because i use the icebiomes.

Ya, I agree the thermo's are easier, but the goal was a system that didn't use them.  I do not use the ice biomes for cooling.  I don't like any plan that can't persist.  I seem to always look for plans and systems that solve the problem verses survive the problem for a timeframe.

I don't have a problem with it because I believe that heat is very broken in this game.  Well, maybe not broken, but to far from reality for my liking, lets put it that way.  Heat just simply does not work this way.  So, I don't have issue with weezewort spawning.  As far as your value of survival, I disagree.  That is not the only value to it.  It might be for you, but people value things for different reasons.  And the minimum is dependent on how much water moves through it.  That is, how many dupes do I have.  I did explore the map and pulled wheezes.  I don't have to cool other parts of my base.  That is why there is two tanks.  One will be a radiator to the whole base.  This will keep every section of my base at exactly 75 degrees.  Its amazing.

Ya, and you could easily build more.  Your system works too.  I just had an idea of what could work and thought it would be fun and challenging to build.  It was more of a "could I do it and make it work" then, "what is the easiest way".  But whatever, I enjoyed doing it and it works very well.

People often forget how much it takes to share a build only to take on unnecessarily negative criticism.

I don't know what happen to this forum. Now if you want to share something all you get is bad critics and ppl saying that you're build is garbage... "It's sad." To quote someone who like to say that other people build is s**t.

What I like to see is tons of different way to do things in this game. For example there is tons of way to cool water. Yes, maybe not everyone of those way are optimized or good to do, but I like to see new things.

Anyway, Your building seems to work well and it look good. The bad thing is that you need to spawn wheeezwort with the sandbox mode.

Engineering based games will always result in bringing out the inner OCD of the people for perfection and efficiency. Not that the OP didn't ask for peoples opinions to begin with, but this was to be expected.

Factorio made me go from "Who cares, it works" to being precise to the absolute decimal for every insignificant thing in the game.  This lends to passionate opinions about designs which may come across as abrasive but isn't intended to be.

So don't take it personally, but also don't lose your creativity in making designs that you like even if they're not perfect.

I understand that optimization/effiency is important for some people. there a difference between saying: "Very bad!"  "It's sad"  "It's useless"

And saying, "Yeah it work well but there is better way to cool water. Here look at this post *insert random post*.".

Anyway all I want to say is that you don't have to be a a**hole when you critic something. But anyway, maybe i'm slowly transforming into a SJW. if I do please ban from internet. :p

I would have been happy to explain to you why the heat production is negative at 76°c, but since you were just saying inderectly that I was stupid. No thanks...

Ha. Of course I'm bad :) Who else? After all, instead of admiring the result of the work of your crooked hands. I start to criticize :) And it does not matter what I say, no matter what arguments I use, the main thing is I"m an **shole :) I dared to offend you :)

You know, I do not usually talk to a man after he's made himself an idiot. It does not make sense. He still does not hear me, reveling in his own hurt. But now you are so delightfully suffering from my cruelty that I just can not pass by :)

Suffer. This is your choice. Do not want to listen to the interlocutor, so give him pleasure at least with your pain :)

In general, if think, I have more than 15 years of experience in R&D :) And I already at the level of instincts appreciate any device on a set of criteria.

* Complicate structure? So it will work slowly and there will be a lot of bugs in the development process.
* A lot of elements? So it will be expensive and we will not be able to sell it.
* Consumes a lot of energy? So you need a powerful supply and we can forget about mobility.

And, as a leading specialist in one of the departments, I already habitually issue the resolution "It's Bad! Redo."

Something like this :)

I don't doubt your intelligence, or even your points.  I did ask you a question about different water temperatures for sleet wheat that I would be interested in an answer.

The point that you are missing in this conversation, which is suprising for a man of "15 years experience in R&D", is that conversations have an efficiency to them as well.  If your goal is to provide critique that lends to creating something better, ignoring the human element that people value what they have built is naive.  To me personally, I think you are lying to yourself.  No one starts with the goal of making things better and helping others by beating them down or insulting them.  You seem to be so blind to the human element that you don't even realize your own motivations for being mean.  Whether that is your own insecurity or your need to believe your smarter than others because you never learned how to value yourself outside of your abilities I don't know.  Regardless, I am a successful, joyful, content man and could care less if your insecurity needs a back to claw to feel better.  Your claws with find no hold in me.

So, back to the original question.  How do you not have two separate temps for water.  Do you not feed sleet wheat colder water?

Also, I like symmetry and how a thing looks.  Whats funny to me is that you saw a waste of metal for tiles that didn't have planters on them, but to me, to not have them makes it look less symmetrical and to my eyes is critical to the build.  The hardest part for me is that piece of ladder I forgot, lol.  It's interesting how the fact that you and I find value in things differently you internalize to intelligence.  The more I read your posts the more I think I am seeing a person who finds his value in his intelligence.  Dude, you are SO MUCH MORE than what you can do.  And others are too.

In my job, I go to emergency scenes all day.  Talk about chaos!  I get paid to solve problems in environments that I have little control over.  I find myself looking for a feeling of order, of peace, when I play.  So my systems aren't as much about efficiency as much as they are towards control and fire and forget.

The other reason why I think you might want to take a minute for introspection is your comment on power usage.  On one hand you say that power usage matters to you, but on the other hand you critique my build by saying saving on the power wasn't worth it and that it was "sad".  Now, if you would have said that the power savings is good, but not worth the size of the build, that would be one thing.  But you didn't, you actually minimized the motivation to save on power to turn it into an insult.  Usually when people do that its because they don't really care about the thing there talking about, they care about how it can soothe there internal wounds.

I believe you are using these forums to prop yourself up because you don't know how to value yourself.  I don't know if your name is Boris or not, but Boris, listen to me.  You don't have to push others down to bandage your wounds of insecurity.  You have value dude.  You do sound intelligent.  I wish the internet wasn't such a barrier, I would love to get to know you.

Thanks, I love symmetry too.  I am not sure.  I didn't do the math.  I started with a smaller one that could not keep up and so I built this one with confidence that it would keep up.
