Omeletes, Power Control, and Pacu... oh my! [QOL suggestion]

Recommended Posts

It is becoming more important to be able to control sub selection of items in certain menus.  Power Control Stations for example have no controls of if they're using my 2 tons of Iron, or my 50kg of Tungsten.  Even worse is watching your Pacu egg farm (with plenty of eggs in local inventory) suddenly devour every last shine Nymph Egg from the other side of the base.  I'd probably nuke the game if we suddenly ate a (insert OMG Been Trying Forever Beast here)...

Please, we need finer controls otherwise we have to constantly baby sit our dupes.

Edit: On a somewhat related sidenote:  Do eggs really need to be counted as part of the critter count in the prison stable?  My grill for my pacu eggs, in particular the ones in the fridge, is counting all those eggs up from the stable where I've got my hatches wandering around on a different floor.  Makes for things to be frustrating all around when eggs are part of the count.

I don't make omelets because of this

@TheExceed  Heh, I missed one that was obvious, my bad.  After three pages of posts though looking I stop looking for something that 'might' fit..

There is this handy thing. It allows you to search through this forum. The Search bar is magical. Haha. Just make sure "All Content" is set to "This forum" and search omellete or power control and you will see every post with those in comments on a thread.

To prove a point, and then I recommend we head to PM if you really feel the need to discuss it further:

Power Control:  Besides us: out-of-contro, power, etc.  Lots of bad hits:

"Power Control" (with quotes): 5 hits, just us and nothing doing.

omellete: Us

omelet: Nada

omelette: Over a week ago for most recent post referenced.

omelettes: Discussions about pacu raising, and some stuff from over a week or two ago, prior to the current release..

... yeah, so I missed one.  Get over it.

You can easy prevent that, with door permissions for your dupes (cook/storage)..

Not entirely.  Your storage people would need to be explicitly storage only and no supply choices, otherwise they still occasionally move an egg from where they are instead of where the nearest egg to the cooking station is.  The logic loops you would need to make to ensure only certain types of egg made it into the grill for the omelet becomes ridiculous, at least in my opinion.  Partially because a newly dropped egg from one of your ranches could be sent to the grill before it even makes it *to* storage to keep it out.

Ok, forget the "easy" thing, but theoretically it's possible. ^^

Please check forums before posting. Both have been suggested 2 or 3 times now. @WanderingKid

(With all due respect, is there an actual rule against it (I'm sorry but there is, I have not seen it) or has a member of the dev team give an answer about the subject thus giving a final word on it ?..

Bcause otherwise, while multiple threads about a same subject may seem anoying, they are a good thing, as it should be a good indicator for the devs that this is a real problem/expectation for the player base. Which is kind one of the point of having a suggestion and feedback subforums in the first place.)

It's not about being annoying or not. I stated this in a few threads. Devs don't always get to read through every thread.
Therefore, making a bunch of threads for the same thing can get some ideas lost. It's better to have a popular thread than multiple non-popular threads. However with this said, in the Guidelines it does say to use the search function before posting.

Not necessary: make the following tunnel

Outside <> Door 1 <> storage > Door 2 <> Grill > exit door or dead-end wall

Door 1 is restricted to the delivery guy and the chef

Door 2 is restricted only to the chef.

Thus the chef becomes the only person who will stock the grill. And with that, it becomes highly unlikely that eggs other than the type you want to grill (aka: those in the storage) will get cooked.

When the game becomes more complex than the logistics circuits that are built as an end game toy, it seems a bit much.

Additionally, there's a third operator: Grill -> D2 -> Storage -> D1 -> Food court... which delivers the omelets.  That last one tends to enforce corner builds.

What you could do is have an Autosweeper in the said Egg room instantly sweep the egg when it lands, throw it into a Fridge/Smart storage container, when it holds as many eggs as you like so you won't extinct your critter, it will disable the Sweeper so rest of the eggs can be picked up for consumption.

I have to agree with The Exceed though, if we have 10 threads all about the same thing, we are wasting the devs time by splitting their attention over 10 threads, where all the information, suggestions etc can be seen in a single thread. It also means devs can see how much a certain topic is being discussed versus "Oh this egg thread only have 5 replies" and then coming across another egg thread and having to either remember if this is trhe same thread or not that they just read.

Yes different opinions are great, but its better if they are all on the same page it doesn't stop people being able to put in their opinion and it means the devs can see that 80% of the people posting want this and the other 20% don't etc.

Grill acts like storage, hence.. have a tab where you can select which things you allow inside the grill; just like storage. Seems simple enough.

Another quick solution would be to only allow stuff to be pulled into the grill from storages with lower or equal sub priority. So as long as you have a high priority 1 kg max storage for each specific egg, you should be fine?
