Andz
Can I modify some of the assets files somehow to do that? What do I need to do that? I love this game, but I am an engineer and seeing such a violation of thermodynamics is making me physically sick in the stomach. This makes me stop plying the game. KittenIsAGeek
There are many violations of thermodynamics in this game. I suppose you don't want to use wheezeworts then..or let water fall down stairs. Or.. yeah, there's a long list. Its a game, so pretend this is an alternate universe where the laws of physics aren't identical to ours. TheScaryOne
The sieve should really output water at whatever temp it's at, or some amount transferred between the liquid and the machine, rather than a set output. Many a base has died from early overheating because of the 40*c output on the sieve. KittenIsAGeek
1 hour ago, Kabrute said: try feeding the seive cold water first No no, you're thinking about it all wrong! That constant output of 40c is a GOOD thing. Take the output through an aquatuner that is in your PW pool. That 40c output is now 15c -- and it always will be, no matter what temp your pw pool gets up to. Make a nice, cool pool of pure, fresh water, quickly destroying the heat in your base. Kabrute
I'm not thinking about it wrong XD but the op asked for viable way of altering the temp of the seive. Theres another post where I suggest doing exactly what you say. and since when do tuners drop 25c? I thought it was 15? So shouldn't it be 26c (if the water is run through once)? These things are written in the game code so to achieve that, you need to write a mod. Now I feel like an idiot. =^.^= You were actually basically right, though, even if by accident. The aquatuner cools up to 10 kg packets by -14 C and the sieve outputs packets averaging around 4 kg, so if you design some valves to recycle some of the output back through the aquatuner again so that you're moving closer to 10 kg at a time it should be possible to get the output to ~15 Celsius quite easily, even if your sieve is operating at 100% uptime. Giltirn
There are a lot of people on this forum who will defend these bugs and quirks of the physics system to their deathbeds. Wonder what they will do when they are eventually patched out? KittenIsAGeek
The developers stated that the constant output devices of devices like the sieve and the carbon skimmer were intentional. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read that, so I could be mistaken. Anyway, the point is that it isn't a bug; its a feature. MidnightSteam
@Andz Get ILSpy then dig into the Assembly-CSharp.DLL Looks like a really simple change. Take a look in the WaterPurifierConfig class and you'll see a set temperature. Take the float number out and put in your own variable. Check out ModLoader's solution file so you'll get an idea on how to start coding. Risu
Change new ElementConverter.OutputElement(5f, SimHashes.Water, 313.15f, true, 0f, 0.5f, false, 0.75f, 255, 0) to new ElementConverter.OutputElement(5f, SimHashes.Water, 0f, true, 0f, 0.5f, true, 0.75f, 255, 0) Note that the sand used as the filter is just as likely as the polluted water to be used as the selected temperature. MidnightSteam
@Andz Are you still here? I've made a mod for it I can PM you the DLL or code(so you can build it yourself). I don't have a GitHub setup yet but if you download the ModLoader(somewhere in this forum) you'll know where to put the DLL. Edit: @Andz Here is the GitHub Link. Find the folder "WaterPurifier" then look for the DLL file.
