You can "cook" fertilizer or slime to get dirt. Aquatuner in Crude Oil or Petroleum can do the trick for you.

But what you need dirt for? There's plenty of it to grow mealwood early game but once you switch to better food and lavatories, you don't need it for anything.

You should get a ton (actually more like hundreds of tons) of dirt by simple digging.

That should last for a long time, since dirt is mainly used as fertilizer for mealwood, which shouldnt be your main source of food anyway. Omelettes are way superior in many ways. Mushrooms are as well.

If you still need more dirt, you can cook fertilizer as already suggested. A more efficient way to generate it would be great, but in the current version there shouldnt really be a high demand for dirt anyway.

Ok, I can't be the only one here. There need to be more ways to get dirt! I don't really know how, but it's such a simple resource that I really think it needs to be renewable. Maybe some kinda worm creature that eats resources and turns it into dirt? I dunno. Just something.

Worm creature sounds cool!!!

A worm creature might sound cool, but it would essentially be the same concept as a hatch (eats stuff, puts out coal/dirt, burrows into non-fortified tiles).

Given that dirt has only limited numbers of usage, there would not be much reason to keep such a worm. Especially since its eggs would provide _alot_ more calories than the mealwood that it might be able to supply with dirt.

@mr peeps :)
When you heat slime with magma (for example), you get first Dirt , then sand (when heating further)

Woah! when i looked at the wiki, it said that process was like, for every 1 slime heated, you would get .001 dirt or something. Woah!

Though I still think maybe some other kind of way to get the stuff would be helpful.

perhaps, but maybe klei could put some twist on it? Like maybe it produces some kind of desease, taking its dirt would make it mad, something like that?
