I dont think that the hats we have should be equippable on pets. Feels... weird to me. However, i would like if we could make some equipment for the pets. Like, a mini backpack or some kind of lantern they can carry. Makes them have a use. Of course, it shouldnt be super easy to make this stuff.

When they start to grow, I want a saddle a la the war one. To ride my varg into battle at last...

(My friend Danny's ewelet Spongebob could make a good steed too.)

So much that does not fit in with the game style or purpose can be fun. Does that mean it would be a good idea to put it in the game? If it's extensive no, it wouldn't. I've heard so many people avoiding servers because of furry and anime type characters that don't fit the game style at all being present. Now part of that is reality within the actual game, yet only a few have a problem with that.

I'm a bit confused. Are you actually comparing the ANR content and inclusion of pets to fan-made furry/anime mods?

I'm really, really starting to think that some bit of people on this forum don't critically try to assess the content that is being given out for the purpose of better game for its purpose and its style. I hear people tell me "well, at least be happy that we get content at all! They're doing this for free!" for one, they aren't really, at least in terms of skins as a portion of the sold item funds go to Klei themselves and secondly, reiterating my point, if it doesn't fit with the game's purpose and style, it still doesn't justify it. I can understand things like the Bee Queen and Toadstool, with their spawn mechanics for instance being rushed as it's beta and they can be changed even after the ANR is finished anyway, but something like the skins that aren't loyal or timeless... they're there forever, you can't reverse it and you'll have furry-dressed players, full of pets that serve no real game-play purpose (mind you, a lot of us were expecting changes to the pets with the recent update and as far as I'm aware, we got jack all in terms of that), who too have skins that look like they're from an entirely different game.

@CaptainFun the above might explain some things to you as well.

When I pointed out that the new content is free, I didn't mean for it to sound like a deflection of criticism. You're still free to point out that much of it is pointless. I just don't think that the inclusion of skins and pets (or any other social content) has been so intrusive that it detracts from the original purpose of the game. The new content that they've added is innocuous at worst.

The problem, I think, is not the content that they've added, but rather the content they haven't added. I want the game designers to look over a lot of things like Woodie, Werebeaver, disease, boss fight balance, pengulls, non-renewable resources and the like, but I would hope they could do that while their artists draw some new stupid skins or whatever. It doesn't have to be either or.

Not specifically the ANR content, but the skins. They're becoming even more ridiculous each time more come out. ANR specifically has problems of its own. For me and some others it's the fact that the design of the new content is deviating away from the original idea and motto of this survival game: "everything is out to kill you". It might just be that they have been currently just thrown in temporarily with not much effort, but I have quite some bit of doubt about that.

To be honest, never expected such a heated debate to arise from something as simple as giving pets clothing. But hey who am I to know anything? This is, in fact, the internet. Also, did I mention? There are skins for pets incommin... Oh Klei, how you've turned into Valve.

People are just a big triggered right now. I'd rather have people be heated about something that quite honestly isn't a big deal, because letting little things slide is exactly how avalanches start :p
