Insulated Pack: Who is really using it? Is it worth it? A Suggestion

3 stacks of jerky, bananas and morsels (cave monkeys), taffy, light bulbs, and sometimes meat and carrots from bunnymen. 8 slots of food right there.

Okay. So you make sure to kill everything and gather way more food than you need to carry. You found one single niche use for an expensive, giant-loot using item.

Insulated pack is a choice, you don't have to make it then cry about how it doesn't carry ALL of your food and doesn't have 8 slots.

You're the one suggesting that it be used to hold "ALL of your food". I'd prefer it keep some bacon&eggs and meatballs fresh, maybe a hambat. Heck, add the lightbulbs. Four slots. All that's needed outside of a niche season-long ruins exploration.

As for the snow chester argument, valid, but people like to have shadow chester (because everyone apparently sooo much inv. space) and chester can't go in caves. But huch is in caves, use your inventory slots on that.

Extra inventory when you're out exploring and picking up all the resources is nice, yes. I suspect that Shadow Chester is also simply cheaper to make early, but don't quote me on that one.

Maybe if you never seem to have enough space, I can give you some pointers or stop carrying so much unnecessary crap all the time?

Assuming I can't manage inventory. Interesting. Here, let me do the same: You don't need to kill every monkey and bunnyman you see and pick up all that extra food you don't even need. Unless you're saying that with a start of 60 jerky and a stack of taffy you can't manage your supplies enough to supplement them with a single food item.

Overall, I agree with FreyaMaluk. All that's needed is to make the recipe look less like an OP item, or improve the current state of the item to match the recipe.

...personally, I'd use it if either the 2 extra slots or the insulation buff were added. Uses for something beyond the mentioned niche. Seems like adding both at once would make it OP, as would Thermal cooling via backpack.
...but, there's a counterpoint to the summer insulation thing. Most boss items help with the following season. Bearger's following season is Winter.
Since it's just (in name at least) an insulated pack, keeping things from being affected from the outside rather than actually cooling them down, what about Winter insulation? It is a boss item, after all. Eyebrella provides similar protection, for 2 separate seasons.

I would use it alone for the +2 slots

The heat resistance you mean?

It makes the Hibearnation shirt, remember?

My suggestion is simple: (edit)

  • make it a real ice box (It can preserve ice and make your Thermal Stone cold) (suggested by @AnonymousKoala and @Erec)
  • +2 inventory slots for 8 total

This is a good idea because insulated pack is useless in my opinion.

make it a real ice box (It can preserve ice and make your Thermal Stone cold) (suggested by @AnonymousKoala and @Erec) --> this I like.

+2 inventory slots for 8 total --> this is unnecessary

Problem with that being that summer's temperature effect would be completely removed by a rock and a thermos.

It already is, just replace thermos with icebox or ice chester. Or a cold fire.
