Many think it's impossible to solo a ewecus without allies and/or tons of armor, but you can pull it off with no more than a log suit, spear, and a torch!

Spoiler

If you time your kill properly, you can get the loot without it burning!

Note: Don't attack the ewecus with your lighter, The lighter has only a small chance of lighting up your enemies, while a torch has a 100% chance,

Eh, it depends on what you're trying to attack, but it's 100% for ewecus.

A similar strategy can be used to kill buzzards with little to no risk of being attacked, All you need is a torch, a weapon, and a meat item for bait.

Spoiler

Sure, it burns the black feathers, but who needs those anyways?

Who knew that?  Well, Willow, obviously.  ;)

As for my own unconventional tactics...I really don't have any.  "Sneak around and get the game itself to take care of threats _for_ you" is the STANDARD way of playing this game.  : P

Well, I guess if we're going for tactics, I know that if you have at least 3 people, 2 spears, and a pan flute you can have one person repeat play the pan flute while the other two whack Deerclops around with some spears. It's not very efficient, and very circumstance-y, but hey it works :T ( I've also been able to do it with only one person whacking Deerclops with a spear, but only cause for some reason after the last pan flute play the game bugged a bit and Deerclops couldn't be woken up. ) Another thing, if you tame a pig you can trap him in the corner of the world where he can't run away and gets trapped, then you can leech off his huge sanity aura. ( May or may not be my go-to tactic when playing as Wicker )

i can also confirm that this tactic works with the spider queen aswell

The torch has a ~25% chance to ignite spider queens on hit, so it's not as reliable as using it against ewecus.

But it does slow down spider spawning during the fight, so that's useful.

Wait, I actually did this.  The Pig King was actually quite willing to trade with me (as Webber), I needed gold, I had stuff he'd want, and the village around the king was RIGHT in the way of my favourite mushroom-gathering forest area (and Glommer's statue).

So I brought a hammer, a logsuit, and spear, and over the course of 3 nights hammered down every single pig house and MURDERED THEM ALL.

It also turned out to be the one and only time so far I've spawned Krampus*.  However, it was the night of the full moon, and he spawned in asleep!  : P

After that I was able to trade with His Porcine Majesty just fine.  (laugh)

Yes, I just don't usually get that many naughtiness points in a row.  Kill Glommer?  I don't need to, as the hounds will bite him in half as soon as look at him.  In fact, that's the other reason I wanted the pig village gone--Glommer kept dying, and every single time I went back for him I got attacked half to death.  I had more Old Bells than I actually needed!
