  1. 1. Would you have preferred the old or the new water and/or waves?

    • No, I like the current cartoony water and waves right now.

    • Yes, artsy and dreary water/waves based on the original water.

    • I would have preferred if just the old water/waves translated to Shipwrecked.

First off, I've only made quick concepts for the waves. Not full water, unfortunately (It's taken me like 3 hours to get these done, so, yeah). But it takes into consideration the question of "what if" in terms of what if Shipwrecked got the old art style waves, but in the form that they currently are built in (as in the water itself is flat, whilst the waves occasionally appear to ruin your day/boost your travel speed for a bit). So, I've taken up some time of my day to stop this itch I have about this and started to try and imagine how it would look like. I've used the new concepts, whilst taking the color palette as well as the ornaments and elements used in the old water art style.

Before I reveal how they look like, first I need to say something that I only now noticed; the color of the RoG/Vanilla water had changed at some point! It seems that it used to be all sepia brown, but has now been made blue! I wonder when that happened... Here's the comparison:

And so, here's the juicy part that you've been waiting to see; how the waves of Shipwrecked could have looked with the old artstyle in place (I realize it's not 100% on how it would really have been, but it's pretty accurate non the less and I would say they look quite neat):

Might not be the best drawings, but it's sort of quick concepts and not really something I was hoping to animate, although I might do that in the future. So what do you guys think?

I would Like them to take that coloring of the ds sw by that I don't starve has always been known for dark and out of nowhere these strong colours means that the game left the essence to bring I found half bad this dlc for this

I always assumed the water in Vanilla Don't Starve/RoG was supposed to look choppy, like you couldn't sail on it. Shipwrecked's water looks good for what it is. Hell, the RoG water kind of gives me a headache if I look at it too long.

The dreariness and the artsiness is the point of it all; it looked awesome for a creepy and artistic for a game like this, which fit well. This is why I would have preferred if the old water got translated to Shipwrecked the way/in a similar way I've demonstrated.

Well the waves are NOT supposed to be sailable in that sense.

I suggest making the texture the strongest at the "tip" and only very faint at the "foot" (I think the current waves already have a faint texture)

I love the blue drawing... So vivid and so DS :)
