WebbersSpider
Me and Boy found a purple plant the other day. We planted it and 2 days later our base was filled with eyeballs with leaves. They hurt us but we killed it. We planted it somewhere else with stone and grass and twigs around it. 2 days later all the grass and twigs were gone. We killed the purple plant and it dropped Leafy Meat and the grass and twigs. -Spider & Boy (Webber) So, let's talk vegetarian meat. The Lureplant is a big purple bulb that spawns one of the most annoying but useful killing machines and gatherers called Eyeplants. These little things kill and gather. If they kill a rabbit, they'll eat the morsel and send it to the Bulb. The default digestion time for the Bulb is 20 seconds. This causes it to be hard to farm common items. But if you keep an eye on it you should get some things. Every 12 to 15 days a new lure plant will spawn on default settings. The Eyeplants do 20 damage each hit and they have 30 health. Their attack period is 1. The Lureplant on the other hand has 300 health. When you kill a Lureplant all the Eyeplants retreat/disappear and the Lureplant drops a Fleshy Bulb. You can plant the Fleshy Bulb. I think we should stay away from them unless we know how to use them properly - Spider Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68842-whats-a-lureplant/ Share on other sites

Mobbstar
It is noteworthy that the eyeplants are actual plants, so if you can't plant saplings or such somewhere, then it is safe against eyeplants too. In other words, you should make a pitchfork and lay down some swish flooring in your camp! imsomony
I remember the first time I saw a lureplant, It was shortly after caves were added to DS. I had mined a sinkhole for some rocks, and promptly forgot all about it. Some time later I went by the entrance and here was this weird eyeball-laden plant trying to kill me. I thought by mining the sinkhole, I must have unleashed this monster from the depths below, and was scared to go into caves for a long time after that. Now I see them and yell at them to get out of my way as I run in stabbing with my spear, LOL. As @Mobbstar mentioned, be sure to put flooring in your base so they don't spawn there. They also won't spawn on rocky turf. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68842-whats-a-lureplant/#findComment-792595 Share on other sites
EuedeAdodooedoe
If you're Wickerbottom and have a bunch of individual pieces of grass or saplings planted down, getting grass and twigs is no problem anymore. Even better if you have the reed trap in your world so you can farm reeds as well. Just get Applied horticulture and every 3 or 4 seconds read the book. Then after 80 or so seconds of farming kill the eyeplant so it doesn't digest it (I found out that's the time when it starts digesting reeds, unsure about grass and twigs though).
