Don't Starve Lore Discussion

I created an account just to discuss with you about the recent Cyclum Puzzle Challenge. (Can be found here: http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Cyclum_Puzzles)

With the Don't Starve Together - A New Reign Cinematic, the singleplayer, "Adventure Mode" of Don't Starve is put into a conclusion.
Maxwell who was then turned into a skeleton to pile 'o dust survived leaving Wilson dumbfounded.
Wilson was seemingly saved by a "sane" Charlie but then goes to have struggle fighting here Nightmare-self. She ends up becoming the new
"Queen" of the Don't Starve world with a complete control of her normal/nightmare self..

I have some questions for you fans,
1. So with this put in mind, does this mean there will be no more lore-wise content for "Don't Starve"?

       - It seems they are pushing the lore with the recent out of early access, Don't Starve Together.

2. Is "Shipwrecked" canon?

3. What do you think will be the next DLC?

1. Nonono this was just chapter 1 of DST.... There's plenty more story to be told.

2. SW isn't. Well... we have no clues or signs pointing to it being canon.

3. Next DLC.... Through the Ages, this'll expand upon gameplay but also DST adventure mode.

I hope that Shiprekt will be included in all this story, but I don't think it will. They doesn't care about fixing all those bugs it have, so it's better not to mention if they care even a little about SW as a lore-related stuff.

Agreed. Since it's under Maxxy's control it's before SW. And judging by cyclum, it's full steam ahead.

1. Don't Starve was the first game, and Don't Starve Together was a sequel based on a mechanic they failed to intertwine with the base game. So, unless they want to go and add some stuff that we didn't know about that doesn't make sense post-Charlie takeover, I doubt DS is getting any new Lore stuff.

 

2. I'm not completely sure; it's either either here. Let's leave it at, 'You could theoretically base it before the Adventure Mode thing, where Wilson tried to escape by boat before doing anything else.' 

 

3. New DLC? If they made one, I'd be hoping for another RoG like one for the caves, or if we're feeling insane, bring 'em over into Space. 

I dunno, I'd probably buy it either way, haha.

1. I feel that DST is the continuation of the DS lore and story. DS kind of leads into DST. I'd be really surprised if they do change the lore of DS and add post-Charlie take over things (like roses and twiggy trees). 

2. I wasn't sure about this one either. I think it's just a fun twist to play, but I don't think it's cannon. More of a bonus edition. 

3. I believe it will be Through the Ages, unless that's some kind of update instead.

What do you guys think about Klei Entertainment adding an "ADVENTURE MODE" for DST ?

@nome already said in a stream they won't be adding Adventure Mode to DST, but probably something in a similar vein, but more multiplayer-oriented.

Like you, Ahegao-chan, I made up this account specifically BECAUSE all the great lore discussions in the Cyclum thread were sooooo making me want to join in.  (And now it's over.  But I assume there are other threads about just that elsewhere on the forums.  I hope.  I always come into fandoms so late!) 

Anyway, I would LOVE some way of normal Don't Starve and Shipwrecked to be at least _physically_ connected. Like, if you search hard enough, you'll eventually find a shoreline that slopes gently down into a beach instead of being a cliff, and then...

Lore-wise,  however, I have no idea.  All we really get from Shipwrecked is that all the wreckage around you when you start is likely from _your_ boat. ("Nice sailing.  Chump.")   Where you were sailing from, why, what this has to do with the portal, Maxwell, etc. or even what time period it's in, we don't know. But it'd be fun finding out.  Who knows, maybe this takes place during Charlie's reign?  And Wolly is her spy/familiar or something...
