Daily Quests, Increase Skins Per Week, Skin Gift Counter, Make Fav Servers

Recommended Posts

Hi there Klei gods,

I'm Aeglefire, I've been playing Don't Starve Together for 8-10 months now and I want to suggest some of my personal additions to DST, seeing now that it has been officially released. :) Also, thumbs up for such a great game. :D

1) Daily Quests: Not asking for much, replayability is already really functional in this game, but having some daily in-game quests that you can do can really spice up DST. Quests could include things like: taking a slice of cooked meat to the pig king, crafting an alchemy engine, giving a Bunnyman a carrot and befriending them, finding the Guardian in the Ruins, etc. These daily quests could reward something like 1/5th of a random skin gift, or more if the quest is hard. And if you don't like the quest, you can mulligan it for another, once per day!

2) Increase # of Skin Gifts per Week: The number of skin gifts that can be received per week could be increased to 5 instead of 4. The skin gift rate seems low to me. Trading in the Trade Inn requires 9 skin items, which if you play enough long hours per week for the max 4 skins/week, takes 2.25 weeks to even be viable to do. Increasing the skin gift rate would encourage players to play more, so it's kind of a win-win. Unless there's some kind of worry about real-world money trading here with skins?

3) Weekly Skin Gift Counter: Make a visible weekly skin gift counter, somewhere, anywhere! If I forget how many skins I received this week, or I just want to take a look at how many skins I received this week, I want to be able to see it. Not knowing is really unsatisfying. Also, a notification as to when (what day/time) weekly skins reset would be pretty helpful, to new players and old.

4) Favorite Servers: Probably the most important of my list of suggestions to the game, is the ability to favorite a server. Then you can have your list of servers which you have favorited, which you can waste no time finding because you don't have to constantly scroll through the long list of servers to find your favorite servers and join them.

Thanks for reading!

Yes, these certainly are good suggestions, especially the server idea. What if you found a server with consistently good ping, no lag, generally nice players but lost track of it, or would rather have a simple 'filter' option for previosuly favourited servers? Tada!

Additional quest ideas to add:

1) Make some pumpkin cookies in a game

2) Fish 5 eel for dinner

3) Feed a pig a watermelon

4) Make a Shadow Manipulator

5) Murder 50 bunnies

6) Kill a Rock Lobster

7) Give the Pig King a Gnome

8) Kill a Shadow Creature with a Dark Sword

If any of you have good quest ideas to add, please list them!

I would be up for the Trade Inn needing 4 and not 9 skins to get a better item because of this. Quests wouldn't really work... That's not what the game is about, tbh... It's a shame that once you know the game you play it in a way it's not intended. What if essentially you would have to world-hop (somehow in DST) or have to die due to say aging? Aging to death and it being a perma-death element? But very slow? Who knowz.

I'm kinda surprised people are up for all of these suggestions. To me they seem kinda meh, especially the quest one, because it would simply turn DST/DS less of a survival game than it already is :(

That wouldn't be such a bad idea. If handled correctly, newbies could look at quests and say," Wait, you could do that?" and learn from there.

I like the ideas in general - except quests. Why? Because I can totally see that one guy on my 16-slot server deciding to make a rabbit hecatomb for whatever reward it would grant and:

- spawning a Krampus who then steals all the loot

- wasting the entire group's resources (rabbits can be fed, AKA made refreshable)

- knowing my luck, in winter

I could MAYBE see it a thing on servers with one player slot only.

Skins could be more frequent or the trade inn rates more favourable, but I am positively neutral on this.
