MycoLogical
As title describes; in what way does the inclusion of water transportation and the multiple islands work in Don't Starve canon? Mr.Mulk
The fact is, I have no clue how Shipwrecked will fit into the Don't Starve Story-line, but I think it is a safe assumption to make that Klei will add more clues as time goes on (i.e. a Shipwrecked Adventure Portal, or maybe another series of clues). As far as my guess goes, perhaps Shipwrecked takes place after an escape attempt by Wilson from the regular DS world or something. So that leaves one question, and that is who is controlling this world. The parrots clearly are involved with this entity in one way or another, but I can't make any well thought out guesses yet. PhelsarusBeel
So far i have not seen enought clues that make me think about that and i guess we get more ideas on what's going on as the updates come out. Already trying to make assumptions and puzzle together a story isn't the best ideas when the new content isn't even a week old. All that this generates is wierd Tinfoil hat theories and after the big amount of those i have seen in the last few weeks i certaintly don't need more right now. oCrapaCreeper
I'm thinking it's the transition point between post-adventure mode and the events of DST. Calicea
It has been one season since our not so brave and even less sane "heroes" were drug to this harsh and unforgiving world by Maxwell. However as they forged through the unforgiving darkness they soon learned Maxwell was even more a prisoner than they were. So they took pity upon him and set him free. May one day we find a way to fight THEM so we may free (The character you played adventure mode as) from their grasp. For now though our "heroes" must flee. Thanks to Maxwell's countless days of imprisonment he knows how to to tame the unforgiving ocean waters and teaches his rescuers how to build a seaworthy vessel. But THEY are not pleased. THEY will not be denied. With our "heroes" fleeing the island the shadows give chase and Maxwell hears a familiar sound. He gazes at his Codex and utters, "I'm so sorry Charlie." He then hears screams and roars and looks up to gaze into a thick fog. He can't see any of his rescuers. As the darkness takes him he remains calm and dapper. "Here be monsters" he says as all goes dark. Much to his surprise he awakens alive. Pulling himself up he coughs up the sea water from his lungs and brushes himself off. Looking around he says, "Water will ruin a good suit, you know?" Finally his eyes meets that of a red bird, but it doesn't seem like the ones from the Island they all departed. "Nice sailing!" the parrot tells Maxwell. He ignores it and looks around. His rescuers were no where to be seen. Did they all get washed upon some strange shore like he did? Will they ever find each other again? Will they find a way to free Charlie? Will they ever defeat THEM and return to the lives they all left behind? If they do how many years has passed in this strange place? Then Klei will higher the modder who made the stunningly beautiful Charlie character and she will be earned by beating SW Adventure mode. ThaumicParrot
I mean shipwrecked could just be a different part of the DS world and it's events could've happened at the same time or even before the events of the original DS world. I like to think that those radios that maxwell seduces people through were sent all over, including hawaii which is how walani got there. Or maybe Maxwell originally built the shipwrecked world as his own personal paradise until Wilson found it? CameoAppearance
I like to think that Wolly (or an unnamed pirate like person) is the puppetmaster right now and changed the world to his/her liking. Could definitely be that. If Maxwell is still on the Nightmare Throne at this point in the timeline, I think something's interfering with his control. He has no other reason to stop appearing in person to taunt you, so I think he's being prevented from appearing in his usual avatar. I don't know whether the birds are more likely to be Maxwell's messengers or if they're being controlled by whoever or whatever is screwing with Maxwell in this theory, though. We probably haven't left the original world/plane of existence. Charlie's still here, and so are a bunch of mobs and mechanics from the original game. Including tallbirds, which Maxwell personally invented. This is more likely to be either a new part of that world, or an alteration of it. Quoth143
I think canon wise, the world of "Them" is much much bigger than what we and the characters first thought, probably on the scale of infinite possibilities. Now how to get to the islands of Shipwrecked my guess is that this where the portal that consists of all the 'things' found on the first island leads to.
