Webber's Lore

Recommended Posts

I think there are a few holes in Webber's lore following today's (10/22/15) stream. People believe that Webber was just eaten by a spider and magically became Spider-Kid! Obviously, that cannot be. How do you unlock Webber? By burying his skull post-563359-0-11978000-1445562031.png. This means that Webber didn't originally survive being eaten. Once you bury the spider/kid skull, some 'The Fly' and Don't Starve logic occur, fusing the Kid and Spider together, just then becoming Webber.

Just my theory though, discuss what you think Webber's lore is in the comments.

That's an interesting idea. Altough I'm not sure that it follows with some of his comments. Everyone in DS seems to have been lured here by what they wanted the most, and when examining a Maxwell statue, Webber states "That's the guy who said he could help us". This implies that Webber was Webber in the normal world, and was lured here by the prospect of being separated from the spider. . . . Maybe he died and was revived after that, but I always just assumed Webber's Skull was just a fun way to implement getting a non-experience based character

I like Webber though. As far as his back story, I'd always imagined it somewhat like this: he was sleeping with his bedroom window cracked open, and somehow a spider from the Don't Starve world crawled in and tried to swallow him whole. He proved to be somewhat indigestible (pun intended) for whatever reason, and ended up melding with the spider.

As to where the spider came from, Webber's comments hint that his father must have been some type of Alchemist or scientist. He wore a top hat, was clean shaven, and worked on an alchemy machine. Maybe his father had created a large spider from some experiments, it escaped, and what followed was what I said above.

That's just my theory though

...

Giant Spider ate (or at least tried) Young Webber... unfortunately/fortunately, he ate him whole and his size is too big and ruptured its stomach...

...

To better explain it... here's a creepy video on my take on how Webber came to be:

Warning... it's gross O__O

How I like to think of the DS world is that each character's soul is trapped there, meaning no matter how much they die, or seem to die, they can become ghosts like in DST or revive via other means. I think the actual earth in DS lore has some strange creatures, as seen in a William carter puzzle since he has an antlered rabbit skull in his office, which means webber could be a spider before he entered the DS world. Now there's three theories I have:

1. Webber was eaten by a giant spider on "earth" and Maxwell tricked him into entering the DS world.

2. Webber was bit by a normal spider, which gave him a disease deemed incurable in the 1920's, and maxwell said he could help him but instead made him into a spider person, and simultaneously trapped him in the DS world.

3. Webber, as a human, was tricked into the DS world by Maxwell, but due to his child mind and body, he was eaten by a spider and died, but the spider lived, which is why the skull drops from spiders. Webber stays dead until you (the player) revives him via grave digging.

But those are just some theories... SOME GAME THEORIES! Thanks for watching!

I like that idea.

WEBBER'S FATHER IS ROBERT GOD DAMN WAGSTAFF!

NO WAY XD

Might be breaking the rules, but didn't wanna clog with wall of text.

http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/58671-wagstaff-son-also-tta-speculation/#entry682480 - More Webber lore!

(i r wagstaff i r maik wagstaf loar)

I can't resist the idea that webber is wilson's son. I mean, there isn't anything concrete, but is there ever is DS lore?

-Webber says his dad used to use a razor (beard-shaving couldn't have been common[see woody, wolfgang, maxwell])

-Webber's dad worked on a science machine

-Would provide an easy way for a DS spider to get into Earth, and for Webber to get into the DS universe

Anyone with me here?

SshhhhhhhhhhWAGSTAFF.

But honestly that also came to my mind, but Wagstaff the second puppet master is like 10x more fabulous and can provide a DST Adventure Mode
