Treeguard fighting

I'm sure this is somewhere else in the threads, but does anyone know if an axe does more damage to a treeguard (poisonous birchnut included) than a spear? I've always thought that it would, but I use a spear just to be safe.

Nope. Axes will do hardly anything to them.

Unless your Treeguard is the Poison Birchnut Tree, axes will do hardly anything. On the latter, the axe is actually mandatory for the fight, unless you have pigs with you or any other mob that destroys stuff.

 

If I remember correctly, you can't even attack a Poison Birchnut without an axe.

You have to chop poison birchnut trees down with an axe, not attack them. But an axe isn't optimal against the little minions they spawn.

My bad. I forgot about that part with the poisonous birchnut trees. I normally just burn them down XD

The werebeaver makes fairly short work of poisonous birchnut trees.  (just don't try three in a row, that's one too many)

unless it's the mating season because the beefalos are neutral, unless the treeguard attacks them first, then nothing will happen. The tallbirds are already hostile so yeahh...

I always lead Bearger to Deciduous forests. He will walk right over Poison Birchnut Trees without even slowing.
