Shipwrecked Footage!

Yeah, hoping not to have a RoG repeat. Hopefully the "x gunpowder and a sleep dart" won't work.

Why is it such a big deal for so many people? If you don't like it, don't kill them that way, there's no need to rob this experience from other players that have a hard-time killing them or simply don't want to waste time and health just because someone thinks this is "too easy". Why was gunpowder added to the game if not

Fight him the way you want, no one put the gunpowder in your hand.

Same thing goes for mods, so what if I think it's silly to make things too easy and I'm surprised by the amount of people that download said mods (max stacks, unlimited clothes/armor/tools)? I won't be shoving down their throats the way the game is supposed to be played because they choose what to do with it, not me, not anyone.

I do totally see your point but when I have gunpowder lying around, then the dragonfly comes and I have two options: Die, or use gunpowder. It diminishes the feel of terror that the giants were supposed to instill in the player. And even if you don't use gunpowder (I have only used it twice) it does, as mentioned above, turn into a kite-fest that lasts two spears. It is my problem with the ease of the bosses, not gunpowder in itself.

Then fight him without armor and with fists if you want a harder fight. It is your fault that you didnt prepare for theam earlier and need to resort to gun powder, because the world of DS is all about preparing for worse.

Just make a hamebat and maybe 3 log suits and pig helmets then face tank anyone. For dragonfly I use night armor and night sword.

anyone know the new DLC can work with RoG or not

It's a good question. I think its possible that Shipwrecked is a standalone expansion, mainly because I guess it's hard to integrate all the new content into the old DS and RoG content (or they must for example change the old water style also in the standard game).

Or maybe you can reach the new Shipwrecked biomes through a wormhole or a teleport? Let's see. I really hope that it isn't a standalone, because I would love to see as much content as possible in one world.

They will act as caves because the video featured a world generation screen.

I'll scream if this is gonna be a standalone.

The technical difficulty (to integrate it to the older content) shouldn't justify the easy way that is to make it a complete standalone version, and to make us make a choice between Shipwrecked and DS. It would be so dull.

And JoeW called it an expansion in the Shipwrecked-Coming This Fall thread, it would be a bit treacherous to not call it directly a standalone.

Edit : HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

I was reading the comments on the wiki by someone who played the demo at pax, (which I know isn't all that reliable, since the demo was only like 15 minutes) and this person said that Shipwrecked is like a standalone expansion off of DS and RoG, so it has me wondering if Shipwrecked will be like we see in the demo, without vanilla and RoG biomes and content. Honestly, at the moment, the Shipwrecked demo doesn't appear to contain nearly enough content to sustain a standalone playthrough.

SinisterOctopus wrote this in another thread. I think that the (alpha) demo version for sure is a standalone version, just because they wanted to show the new content and not the old stuff. But why does the person who played the demo thinks it is a standalone? Did he/she asked one of the developers at PAX?

I guess we will get more infos with the Rhymes with Play Episode today...

I bet he thought it's standalone because you get spawned already on an island (because they were showing off the dlc, not the prior dlc or base game).

Why would it be standalone? Most likely there will be something to acess the islands like the caves are accessed via sinkhole. It isnt hard to accomplish this because its a separate world file, everyone is worrying for no reason, Klei wont make an obvious mistake by making it standalone.

Well i am worried that this will be something like caves or adventure mode like you say. I want DLC like ROG is so our worlds change and get new water with islands around. I really really hope so!
