How to report players

Recommended Posts

Hello. I don't have Don't Starve Together but I know enough on how to help some of you on how to report players. What I remember(I might have wrong) there is a report thingy somewhere so that you can report players.

How to report players:

Screenshots:

Screenshots are great when reporting players but if you have only 1 screenshot of someone burning all of the stuff and other stuff then it would be hard or impossible to prove that he did anything wrong, accidents happends. Make more screenshots. Please read below for the better way to report someone.

Using a recording software/programs

This is the best way to report someone with. Able to provide "everything that is needed".

Stuff that you can use: Fraps, X-Fire, PlayClaw 5, Bandicam and more.

You can get PlayClaw 5 Demo for free on steam. I don't remember how long u could use it for free. If you are on one of Klei's servers then u could see if someone is hacking one way or another and have enough proof that he/she did it!

Note: Some of their servers in the future might enable mods that you can use sooooo the "hacks" might just have been a mod. But if it is not possible to use any mods then you are good to go. If it is possible to use the mic then it is a great way to report someone that are telling you to kill yourself irl or other stuff.

You can also use one of these recording softwares/programs when trading ex if you want a beta key, then u can record the chat between you and the other guy, the trade, when u are using the code and his/her profile. Remember: Don't Pause or anything because it is easy to make it look like someone else did this while it was you on another account.

I thought that it would be a good idea to say this here. If you (mods) does not like this then you can tell me so that I can delete it(possible for me?) or that you delete it.

Currently there isn't a system for reporting players at all. Because of the reasons you highlighted, I don't think it's that likely that there will be one.

Right now you can only report servers with vulgar names, not for anything gameplay-related. Griefing will be mostly solved by bans + rollbacks, which will be independent of any reporting system.

and because JoeW said himself that they won't be policing the servers (but implementing things that will help later, nonetheless)

I'm happy to know you can't get banned from DST for griefing, that would be easily abused.  For example, Wilson kills Wolfgang. Wolfgang, in revenge, proceeds to burn down all of Wilson's belongings, and attack him with angry bees and flaming butterflies.  Wilson takes a screenshot, and reports Wolfgang, who is then banned for simply getting back at Wilson.

The only way to cheat right now is if you're the host. If you cheat items in as a client, it's not going to do anything. It will appear as if it worked, but to the server nothing happened, thus items or entities you spawn in don't actually exist and you can't interact with them. If you're the host, you can spawn stuff in and it will work, but joining games of randoms is always a risk in this case.

I guess that's one huge benefit of making practically everything depend on the host.
