Koalephants - stronger, rarer, fatter.

Recommended Posts

Im sure you are all familiar with the Kolaephant

-gives tons of food

-tanky

-extremly easy to kite

now, if you switch the one gentelman scientist to 3 gentelman scientists its even easier task (so much easier if they have magnificent beards) and when the food is splitted between 3-4 players it just doesn't feel that satisfying

so I thought maybe, make the koalephant rarer (by allot), make the koalephant allot tankier, make it attack faster, increase the loot to maybe... ughm.. 20 meat? and give it some sort of spacial AOE attack like the giants have, maybe even adding Kolaephant jr. , making it allot harder to kite (im sure most if you already tried to kite 2 fast mobs or more.. its hard.)

You haven't been playing DST, have you?

(a) This would breach the principle of not adding stuff just to multiplayer that would make sense in singleplayer

(b) This is not needed, and koalefants are like the one thing right now that can actually pull a 4-person team through winter. Making them rarer (even if you're increasing the loot) would just make it more likely for everyone to starve out of sheer RNG, which is not a good situation.

Thre will that warg chance soon enough, but I don't like current hunting mechanic in DST, every player gets a hunt that means you can have 4 koalefants, and since the component is bugged for ages now, at least in RoG and base game, the hunt resets every time you reload the game, that means endless koalefants.

Have to disagree with op. Dont starve together should - as rezecib rightly said - not differ from the singleplayer mode. I am hoping that Klei will instead make another DLC after ROG works in DST (so many acronyms...). where they can put in new ideas (singelplayer and multiplayer). Additionally I dont think that they will adress such small and subjective balancing issues at all until they bring out DST.

Tomer pls. Tomer pls, why. In DST,a koalephant is literally a huge risk for players who have a bad connection. On one of the Rhymes with Devs live streams, I was on their server and I was lagging (keep in mind I'm on the east coast, in mid-NJ) and I nearly died by a koalephant because I was rubber banding.

I thought the "every player gets a koalephant" thing was a bug.

(so many acronyms...).

even better when DST in your mother language is also a acronym for STD.

Ya we dont need to make them rarer with bigger payout.  If you're not satisfied with the meal generated by 1 Koalephant go out and kill another.  There are so many out there now that for the first week I played DST me and everyone on my servers ate nothing but.  They are quite tasty. NOM NOM NOM

But having tons of low loot weak mobs instead of few strong ones with big loot is the diffrence between a challenge and a grind

Since The oppinions here are different it seems not to be a big issue, more of a personal view. So it isnt important for the beta atm.

What I would like to see eventually (maybe another DLC) is more variety in the hunts - Maybe you could tell what you are hunting by the footprint (and the comment regarding the footprint) and you could find Koalsaurs (a mix of Koalas and Dinosaurs - which would be more difficult and more rewarding.

BTW: Deerclops is also a nice way to survive winter if you are lucky enough to spawn him (is he in the beta?).
