And sure, we technically know the backstories of Wolfgang, Wes, and Maxwell... but still, we have nothing else. They said there would probably be more, but there haven't been. Unsound Mind Posted June 17, 2014 Share Posted June 17, 2014 I know Klei wanted us to speculate the character's backstories, and I mostly agree with them. I like the sense of mystery surrounding the characters, and it leaves people open to interpret things how they want. However, I would like just a little more information. I like how they did things with Maxwell--a lot of things were left to speculation, but we were given just enough information that we could guess the story behind things. We had to put forth some effort to get it, too. If anything, giving him a backstory made him a more interesting character. And great stars above, do I love puzzles. I think that's why people were kind of disappointed with this last puzzle; we were expecting some sort of backstory on Wilson, or a continuation of the intermission. It's the story we care about. --------------- Posted June 18, 2014 Share Posted June 18, 2014 What's that?? Something I read a while ago and have really come to enjoy, albeit it perhaps being quite silly. It's theorised that WX-78 is a malfunctioning prototype Maxwell made for his Clockwork army. It didn't obey Maxwell and perhaps even hated him for being an organic life form. It's also a lot smarter than the average automaton that Maxwell created, seeing what he is capable of if you play him. Perhaps failing at trying to overthrow Maxwell, he was banished into the unforgiving wilderness of Maxwell's world. Maxwell then settled for more basic, but obeying Clockwork automatons. I don't know, it kinda reminded me of the origin of Clank from, well Ratchet and Clank. And hey, with no real backstory to almost anyone but Wilson, Maxwell and perhaps Wendy, why not believe what you want to believe. Edit: It's seems more logical now that you where referring to my typo and not the theory. I will now proceed to beat myself repeatedly with a dictionary.
