This is the revised version of a collab I had attempted to start a long time ago, but flopped. So, I'm trying it again in hopes that it doesn't. Without further ado:

[Of Clams and Pengulls]

This collab, if it sets sail, would add islands, new mobs, items, and boats to allow you to sail across the ocean.

Mobs:

Earthclam

1 health

A combination of a clam and earthworm, this mob would hide in the ground near the ocean, occasionally letting it's existence be known by shooting up small jets of water. After rain, it would pop up from the ground and wander for a while before digging its way down again. If killed, it would drop a Shelled Bait.

Quotes:

Wilson-I'm not sure whether to kill it for food or out of mercy.

Willow-I wonder if it could turn dirt into pearls.

Wendy-It only comes out if conditions are perfect. Not a wise decision.

Wolfgang-Beaky worm!

WX-78-I WANT TO DROWN IT.

Wickerbottom-It is in the process of developing self-defense mechanisms.

Woodie-I ate a lot of these back in Labrador.

Maxwell-Peasant food.

The Consistency Merm

Invincible

This merm would pop out of the ocean from time to time in a mermaid costume to give you back character-specific or irreplaceable items that dropped in the ocean or to slap you for using boats to escape from a fight.

Quotes:

Wilson-I had no idea they could swim.

Willow-I would burn it alive if it wasn't so useful. Or so wet.

Wendy-What drives you to help me so much?

Wolfgang-Is lady fish!

WX-78-IT'S CONSISTENCY IS INCONSISTENT.

Wickerbottom-It is from two canons.

Maxwell-This one was addled a bit.

Bale

1000 health

A large, white, barnacle-covered whale that travels in packs of three and becomes agressive upon attack. It drops 5 meat, 10 blubber and a barnacle spike upon death.

Quotes:

Wilson-Where does the whale begin and the barnacle end?

Willow-Is this where narwhals came from?

Wendy-Trapped, swimming in the deep blue sea.

WX-78-I'LL HARPOON IT.

Wickerbottom-It straddles the fine line between a parasitic and a communal relationship.

Wolfgang-Dangerous spike fish!

Woodie-This is why I chop down trees.

Maxwell-A narwhal, pile of vomit, pufferfish, barnacle and a whale, all in one.

I'll add more later.

I've been thinking sailing could work as a collab. The name could use some work in my opinion, when I saw the thread, I wasn't sure what the theme was supposed to be. Something like "New Horizons" "A Brave New World" some some cliche-y catchy stuff.

I also think it would be cool if boats could be built on, and the journey through the sea took longer, so you would have to carefully plan what you bring.

Here's some ideas I have:

1. A walrus fisherman who the player can encounter on a fishing boat and can sell the player bait or fishing rods in exchange for gold, pearls, anything shiny really

2. Perhaps the blubber can be combined with a puffy/breezy vest to make a blubber vest that acts as a life jacket so the player doesn't drown if their boat is destroyed and they could slowly make their way back to shore with it equipped. It would have a certain amount of durability however, but can be repaired with a sewing kit.

The recipe could be 6 Blubber, 1 Puffy/Breezy Vest, and 2 Ropes and require both an Alchemy Machine to create

3. A possible boss creature that could be encountered if the player sails out too far from shore or are on the sea for several days at a time and act as a sort of hound attack on the ocean since it happens after a certain amount of days.

The idea for a creature that I had in mind is a Flailtopus, which has flails at the ends of the tentacles and are similar to the default tentacles in their attacks, but have a chance to cause the player to drop their equipped weapons when hit since they have suckers on the flails as well as spikes.

The Flailtopus would attack from below and the player would be randomly attacked by up to 8 tentacles, these would be slightly weaker and have less hp than normal tentacles since they're attacking you and your boat all together.

By defeating the Flailtopus, you could get suckers which you could use to make special sucker gloves that prevent enemies such as frogs, future Flailtopi, and the Goose/Moose from forcing you to drop your weapon. These gloves could be made with 4 pigskins and 8 suckers using an alchemy machine and could be a passive item in your inventory that you don't need to equip to get their effect or be able to equip them in the weapons slot, but also be able to also equip weapons as well.

Another loot item could be a Sucker Flail, which deals almost as much damage as a tentacle spike, but more than a spear, and has a chance of temporarily rooting an enemy in place when hit and preventing creatures such as pigs from trying to kite you or extracting a random item from that creature's inventory (provided they have one)

These are just a few ideas I thought of on the spot, hope they were helpful

I want to see a literal Sailing Stones.

Real life Sailing Stones are basically stones that slide along the ground over millions of years without human intervention, leaving scarred lines where they move.

I want to see a tongue and cheek creature and/or set piece of this idea.

I kinda like the name "Oldest Frontier". It sounds like there's some adventure to it, bit of mystery and ancient knowledge maybe? In the sense of the word frontier, the coast is a border beyond which lies a world of whimsical wonder and magical oddities of the Don't Starve ocean.

H.M.S. Pyronic

5 Redbird feathers

2 Ashes

3 Planks

2 Blubber

Crafting recipies only use 3 items! Its a good ideia though!

Could be worked around by making a craftable item 'Pitch' out of ashes and blubber

First Craft 2 pitch (2 ash + 2 blubber)

then the Pyronic needs

5 Redbird feathers

3 Planks

2 Pitch
